Female voice for navigation changed

My S4 came with a nice, sultry, realistic sounding voice that was easy on the ears when driving. The voice has since changed to a more crude computer-sounding female voice like some primitive 80s voice synthesis technology. What happened? Was that due to a Google Maps update, a Samsung update, or did I mess up the settings somehow? Can I get back the original guidance voice that came with my S4?

try freezing the "samsung text to speech service" with titanium backup. this worked for me, now the regular google voice tts is back.

I had to download a new English TTS voice from the Samsung Apps App to get it back...
