since putting my phone back to normal factory yesterday,i have noticed my auto rotate gets stuck in landscape mode,it will rotate 180 from 1 side to the other BUT it wont settle back in original place. I have tried a factory reset and cleared the cache,i have tried the geo settings and it passed.
what else could it be? have i put a n os on it that has corrupted it?

help apreciated as its driving me mad.

thyanks

I guess the first question should be was your device ever rooted and have you flashed custom firmware? If no, to both questions, then you're dealing with TouchWiz. So set screen rotation, you'll need to go into TouchWiz settings, but it's been so long since I've done anything with stock TouchWiz, I can't remember exactly where those settings are. I *think* if you're on the home screen and you press the menu key there is a link to those settings.

well i was having problems witt last week and a mate offered to help out,im sure he rooted it. i did have ReVolt JB on it but i hated it. So i managed to download Odin and get an original os for it and i managed to put it back to factory.

That Touchwiz did show when my phone got rooted off, but now its just back to factory.

TouchWiz is Samsung's default launcher. Some people like it, some hate it. I never stuck with it for very long. On my SGS2 I am using the SuperNexus JB rom and really like it. Your device supported if you wanted to give it a try.

I do remember TouchWiz not rotating screens consistently which is one reason I stopped using it. If you want a simpler solution you can try an alternate launcher.

since this i have reflashed the os factory firmware again..and still noy! i have just done another factory reset..and still no joy.
I downloaded a bubble level (it was out) so i calibarated it in the settings and it was working spot on. So i take it my hardware is all fine and that there must be a glitch in the OS somewhere.

What else can i try? as this is really annoying me now.

Thanks

I would try a different Launcher myself. Lots of people Like Nova Launcher.

Also for future references. Doing a factory reset will not solve a system issue. You see a factory reset only clears cache, dalvic, and user data. It does not take the system back to an earlier time nor does it do anything else to the system partition.

sorry to go on. i have just installed ICS 4.0.3 (cleared cache and did factory reset as per guide here) and upon start up to my surprise, auto rotate is still getting stuck! i have notice on camera or say messages when on landscape mode. if i tap the back of my phone after a few taps it will go the right way roun
d,also on camera pictures will come the right way up. This is baffling me now. There was nothing wrong with my phone when i got it few month ago.

Is it the hardware at fault (i have dropped it but in a rubber /plastic case) the odd times.

what would you suggest now?
