Fennec is coming!!

So Dolphin is really our only alternative? I enjoyed the Opera browser on my old Omnia. I wish would could get Google Chrome. That would only make sense!

I installed Opera the day I got my phone and it wouldn't let me log in to Facebook. Perhaps an update fixed that but i never went back to check.

Also, I haven't seen anyone on this forum mention it much. I just felt they had similar problems as well. There's a Mobile and a Mini. I'm not sure which one we have, but the other one is the better one and is only on Symbian right now, i believe, but we're going to get it soon too.

I've been using xScope for a few days and am starting to like it. I tried using dolphin for a while, but it just didn't "feel" right. It worked fine, I just didn't like it. Opera was great on the WinMo phones...I absolutely loved the way it worked. I don't care much for the Opera Mini. Again it just didn't "feel" right. I know, I know, that's subjective. I can't even quantify it other than to say it doesn't feel like I want it to.

Bringing this back, because as some of you may have seen on the front page, there is a pre-alpha version of Fennec available. However, it states that it is for the Motorola Droid and the Nexus 1. I downloaded the .apk and installed it, but it's not working on my phone. I can get the browser to pop up for a second or two and see "about:first run" in the address bar, but then it closes.

Has anyone else had a chance to give this a shot? Have you been able to get further into using it than I have?

I think it was on Engadget that said this will be for 2.0 and up. Disappointing, but we still have Opera right? :p

Firefox now available for Android 2.0 and above, still at pre-alpha stage -- Engadget

According to the article it's meant for 2.0 or above, but I guess it's worth a shot on 1.5.

I'm trying it out as well.....10mb .apk file...

::: EDIT :::

Didn't work on my Eris, is this file so large because it is an alpha release?
Before uninstalling it took up 30mb on my Eris, I can't imagine that's anywhere near correct

That is correct, it really is that big. Oh well, I like to test things out. And I would love to test out a mobile Firefox browser. I guess I'll just wait and see what new builds bring.

there is already another thread about this.
btw...in my experience with it fennec crashes and burns.

Uh...yeah, it's this thread! ;) Trust me, I searched. This is the original Fennec thread in the Eris section. I don't want to discuss how it works on other devices, I only care how it works/doesn't work with the Eris since that is the device I use.
