So I bought my Galaxy S4 back in October and it is working fantastic. However, this past December I bought a 32gb Kingston SD card so I would be able to put all of my music onto my device. Last week, I got the error that the sd card was "unexpectedly removed" from my device. Now, whenever the SD is in the phone my phone doesn't even recognized that there is an SD card in the phone. Has anyone else had this issue? And do I need to get a new SD card?

Thanks.

Probably. Kingston has been known to use garbage chips in their cards. Stick with SanDisk. They manufacture the chips, so they get to pick the good ones. (And if anything happend to the card, they're a good company to work with for a replacement.) If you don't want to spend the money on an Extreme, get an Ultra. (It does make difference in speed. Ultra is faster than a standard Class 10 card. Extreme is faster than that.)

1. have you tried to format your sd card via laptop/PC?
2. if no. please do so.
3. if yes, is your card writable? (please test)
4. if the 3 options have been checked, try to insert the card again in your unit and test. . .if the error still arises, try the sd card in ANOTHER android phone. .if it does good, may be the card is not compatible with your unit OTHERWISE, this might be a card problem. . .

All good advice above. My 32GB SanDisk card, I had for over a year, went bad just recently. (Same issue as you described.) At first, I thought it was an issue with the card, since I've heard that certain SanDisk cards stop working in the S4. (SanDisk did send me a replacement for free.) After thinking about it a few days ago, I remember encrypting the SD card and shortly after that unencrypting it. That's when my card started unmounting itself, every now and then. Then around Christmas, while taking a lot of videos and pictures, it pretty much stopped working. (Thank God I was able to backup everything to my computer.)

I've had the S3 and the S4, after about six months both handsets became problematic with the SD cards constantly going wrong... With the S4 I'm up to my fourth samsung 64gb card and have lost numerous photos which I'll never be able to replace, I should of backed them up but hindsight is a wonderful thing! Be very wary of blaming different makes of card...I know loads of people who have all suffered the dreaded "unexpectedly removed" message. Unfortunately I'm back to squinting at my 4inch iphone....

I have an Lg Sunrise and my phone still is unmounting and remounting the sd card. We have tried alot of different ways to see if it corrects the problem but it doesn't it was fine for the last 3 days then today it just started saying over and over sd card removed it may be damaged or unusable then it mounts itself after I get that warning. I just got this phone and sd card so they are both pretty well under 2 weeks old. What can I do to fix this issue? Should I get a new phone or take my sd card back where I bought it and have it replaced??? I am going nuts about this issue because I have no idea if its the phone having issues or if it is the sd card itself PLEASE HELP!!!!

Most of cases, your SD card is malfunctioning. Try a different SD card which works on another phone. If still not working, then the problem is the phone itself.
I am guessing that it was the SD card I went out and got a brand new one yesterday and my husband put in in my phone last night. Works just fine. The SD card I had in it that was messing up was a class 10 the one we have in there now is a class 4 seems to be working just fine. The other card that was messing up was a black friday score class 10 32g sd card for only 10 dollars so we bought 2 of them and a class 4 16g for my mother in law but she never had an issue at all with her card. Thank you for the help. Also got a new phone as well just in case its the phone to be on the safe side you know?
