Got my DI and im getting it setup but for some reason it will not connect to data or "mobile network" when im in settings, just sits there grayed out says "turning on"

Check my features and i have the data package already turned on so its not that.

any one got tips?

Tryed the airplane mode trick to see if it would kick on the data when i restarted the radio.

Had the same issue when I got it yesterday - called last night and it was resolved on the phone. I was escalated to a more technical CSR, though. Also, she initially said it would take a day to fix, but she received a message (while we were troubleshooting YahooMail issues) that said it was fixed. No problems at all after that.

I have the same problem but have been unable to fix. Made it through two levels of tech support and they sent me to the store to get the replacement... like a moron I went and got to wait 45 minutes in a store to be told they can't replace mine until tomorrow (and only if I want to wait in the huge line that will exist). If anyone has any specifics for what they did to fix yours, I'd love to know.

Sadly, I'm with you guys. Got my phone today and it will NOT connect to the 'net. WIFI works fine, phone and text works fine, it's just that the thing constantly says "turning on..." when trying to connect via mobile network. After spending 45 minutes on the phone with Verizon tech support, they advised that I take it to the store tomorrow and get it replaced. Not too happy, at present

I'm assuming you both have been told to do a soft reset since you were with tech support? Pulling the battery while the phone is on. Then re-doing *228 then 1.

Have you guy's tried master resetting the phone? I'm a VZW CSR, been for about 2.5 years now. But anyways sometimes it's just a software issue and not always a hardware. It's worth a shot if you see this by tonight. If it's like the Droid which probably is, you go to Settings then Privacy, then Erase Everything or something along the lines of that. I do not have one in front of me, so I can't give a step by step. Do the master reset then *228 then press 1. Don't bother pressing 2 as that just updates roaming.

Ok guys.. I just got off the phone with VZW tech support and I asked for their top-tier techs as I had been through the mill already. After just 5 minutes with this wonderful lady, she was able to explain that this problem lies with VERIZON, NOT THE PHONE! Basically, the network does not recognize your individual number and VZW has to fix it on a case by case basis. So call them up and they'll fix it for ya!! :)

Same here. Even though the "mobile network" was working fine yesterday as soon as I activated the phone, It wasn't today. So I had to call Tech support this morning and they configured me number from their end and had me do the *228 thing again and all is well now! :D

The same thing happened to me when I got it on Tuesday. No data at all. I called and at the time data activation was down nationwide and the guy said it should just start working eventually. Nothing worse than getting a new toy and not being able to use much. Anyway I called back a few hours later because it still didn't work and the lady went in and redid some settings on the account, i rebooted, and it worked.

I think I have the answer for you. If you are NOT in a 3g area, meaning you're in extended network, you CANNOT enable data on the device. You have to go to an area that has 3g, call the 228 number and you won't have a problem activating it. I couldn't figure it out either, but then called and that was the issue. I drove about 5 minutes up the road where there's 3g in PA, called the number and it was up and running! hope this helps!

Here's what I found out. You don't need to be in a 3g area, I went through this at work where the signal was horrible, 1x only. However, the tech said that the problem is that data profiles have not been created for some users in their system. Without that data profile, your phone can't connect.

I told him I was seeing quite a few other people with the same issue. He told me that anyone else with the issue should call verizon and have the tech make sure that your data profile is actually created, if not, they need to have you turn off your phone, setup the data profile and then you go through the activation process again, and then it should be good to go.

He said if you give the tech some clear instructions that will save a lot of time, since some techs are just stating that you need to bring the phone in for a replacement.

I had the same problem as well, with the grayed-out "Mobile network turning on..." cell. I had to spend about an hour on the phone with Verizon, but it seems like they have had enough calls that they are getting more proficient at fixing this.

The tech I spoke with, Matt, said his friend had the exact same problem but he did not, and it seems more common in new customers (or customers porting from another provider as is my case), rather than existing customers.

He fiddled with some stuff, had me re-activate it with *228, reboot. Didn't work. Fiddled with some other stuff, and without rebooting I got "1X" to show up in status bar! Then after rebooting, it changed to 3G. It now works.

He said to fix the problem, he toggled a data feature to 'trick' the system into correctly associating my phone with their data connectivity information. Specifically, he set the "Data content filtering" age to 13, and then turned "data content filtering" off, to trick the system.

Hope this helps other folks get their Incredibles working!

Ok, so I got a Samsung Stratosphere around last christmas and its work amazing.....up until a few days ago. For some reason my phone stopped sending and receiving data. I can no longer browse the internet, check facebook, or listen to pandora unless i connect to a wi-fi network. I have tried everything that I could think of; restart the phone, changing the network mode, etc. everything short of factory resetting it. Any one have any ideas or input on something I may be missing so I can have my phone working again?
