Incredible screen in bright sunlight?

That is true the screen is difficult to see in the sunlight. I had the Moto Droid and could adjust the brightness on it when I went outside, but really this is not that big of a deal for me. The phone is amazing and I don't see myself changing because of the screen visibility in bright sunlight. Good luck on your decision. :)

Given I will be blamed by her for any and all perceived shortcomings as if I created them myself, I do need luck... ;)

yeah i had the same problem with my zune hd, but the cool thing about sunlight is its ability to create shadows. the cool thing about people is they cast shadows when theyre in the sunlight. most people figure out fairly quickly that if you stand with your back to the sun, you can cast your shadow onto the phone, thus eliminating the problem of not being able to read the screen in direct sunlight. its a non-issue for most people. the only ones who usually count this point as a negative are iphone users who find any excuse to bash any gadget that does not have an apple on it.

Good points and I agree but it is difficult to cast a shadow on your phone when it is on the dash of your car.

This is my number one concern with the phone. No phone can be perfect right?

I get mine today and will give some feedback when I have some experience with the phone.

agreed, went out yesterday in direct sunlight and it was just as easy to read as my blackjack 2. as far as reading the phone on the dash of your car? I don't completely understand, you mean laying flat on the dash of your car? if so how are you trying to read it? through the windshield? if you mean in a phone holder (for example a window mount) it shouldn't have direct sunlight on it unless, of course, you are driving a convertible...then I'm not sure.

My thought was in some type of holder while being used as a GPS unit or perhaps hands free phone.

make a visor for you phone kinda like a visor you put on your head... Shadow will be cast over the phone to increase visibility, and the problem is solved!

As others said I wouldn't leave it in the car this way though, long term sun/heat exposure is probably not good...

I actually thought about doing this. Know that I think it will work fine I plan on purchasing dash kit.

It would only be there when driving.

My Android 7" Tablet PC's screen completely disappears when I go outdoors, whether bright sun or not. It is beautiful inside under no lights or dim lights at the right angle. My Blackberry is visible outside, so there must be a different backlight method that Android should tap into.
Why do you think the operating system dictates how the screen works physically?

Also, why are you resurrecting a thread from almost 2 years ago, to talk about some unnamed tablet and your blackberry in a thread about the screen on the Droid incredible (which has been off the market for a year).
