ok so i got my phone..i am having trouble activating it..not sure why...also this is my first smart phone, so bear with the silly questions please...my wifi is low because of the connection..i use DSL in my apt, so the only connections it can get at my house is someone's wifi, which is a poor connection. Is there a way around this? ( sorry if this is a dumb question). Also, I thought it would come with a detailed manual, but i only got this one that says tips, hints and shortcuts...any ideas?

You could always buy your own wireless dsl router, or just stick with 3G once you activate your phone.

Here is the User Manual from the Evergreen thread.

I could use the phone and GPS when I had the Droid. My biggest issue was the GPS talking overtop of the phone when I was trying to talk to someone one.

Normally that shouldn't happen, but back to the issue of voice and data simultaneously. The official story from Verizon is that 4g will allow simultaneous voice and data and they plan to have 30 markets with 4g by the end of the year, and the rest of the US by 2013.
Why ATT works with voice and data is because they use two networks, the GPRS network handles voice and 3g handles data.

Ahhh CRAP! I accidentally deleted my "favorites" widget, where is it? How do i get it back?

Here is how you get it back

1. find the blank space you want and hold your finger on it so it pops up the add widget menu
2. select "widgets"
3. select "people"
4. select "widget style 1 of 2"(this is the default one you're used to seeing)
5. press "select" at the bottom of the screen
6. press "favorites"

all done.

Alright guys, it's been a whole lot of fun and damn near 1000 pages, but the thread will close tomorrow and most of us will have the phone in our hands and be too busy playing with it to post anyway. Thanks to Kappy and MM for the awesome UG. Thanks to Anonimac for keeping everything together. Thanks to viperboy, NKT, Stericson and... uhhh, whoever else gave us good info.

Hopefully some of you will stick around this forum to help out with questions and all of the stuff that comes after the phone is released. Sure has been a hell of a ride the last 6 months waiting for this beast.

Now my girlfriend doesn't have to listen to me bitch about a phone and update her regularly. I'm sure she is grateful.

This is the end, I guess. Goodbye, thread that consumed my life for months. I would have liked to have seen 100 thousand posts and 1000 pages, but I don't think it will happen in a day. Thanks to those who made this place great: Anonmiac, Kappy, Montana Man, Steven, NKT, and many others. I'm sure I'll be reading other stuff about the Incredible on here, but I probably won't post anymore. Man, I love this phone!

Anyone know how to select the default gmail address on the incredible?

Not the same as the droid. Wonder where it changed to.

The mail shortcut on the home screen is for the HTC Mail application. When you setup your phone with the default gmail address, it was placed in the gmail application. You can do one of two things.

1. Place the default gMail applicaon on you home screen.
2. Setup the default gmail address in the HTC Mail application and turn off data syncing for gmail.

If you select #2 you will not have access to all the features of the gMail application.

If you select #1 all your mail accounts (gmail, Exchange, POP3/IMAP) can be accessed from 1 mail application.

Effing sucks. I've had to wait until today to get the phone. Even though I'm not as excited about it as I used to be a few weeks ago, I kept waking up from dreams I was having about the dern phone. One in particular was bad. Not only was the Incredible in my dream a flip phone (?) but the display was so small that HTC put a magnifying glass on top to make it big enough to read. Clearly my dreams don't reflect reality at all. Clearly I'm tired of waiting for the phone.
