Data transfer with USB2/Micro usb cord? NOTE 3

Is the above possible. I have my old usb2/micro usb cord that charges the NOTE 3 but I can't seem to find a way to make it transfer data.

I've never taken the USB3 cord out of the Note 3 box. My Samsung USB2 works just fine. I transfer my pictures to my laptop regularly. I'm on Verizon. Hope you find a resolution.

1. try a different cable.. sometimes the cable is bad or quality standard issues.

2. there is also a setting... to set how the phone reacts to users plugging in a USB cable. need to set it to Data device to let it transfer data. when you plug it in.. a notification should show up in the notification bar. if you select it.. it will take you to the settings.
