Will we ever get to sync our actual Google accounts with these special marketplaces?

I remember when I played the FF3 trial on OUYA and got to the end of the free bit. I didn't wanna spend 15 bucks on a game so I waited.

It went on sale in the Play store for like 7 bucks one day. I got excited and went on the OUYA to see if it was for sale. Nope.

Then, I got mixed up on the "are you sure you want to buy?" window trying to hit no, hit yes, and bought the game anyway.

Heh.

Each store has it's own checks and balances. Now would it be cool if what you bought on one would send a signal to the other and allow you to download it? That would be nice but whats the point?

Android is hackable and open. After a few days Fire TV will be rooted and the playstore will be loaded. Once that is done then your free to install everything from both.

Just as you said that one place was on sale and one wasn't that is what I love. You have a greater chance of finding stuff on sale! :)

That may be but there is an issue as I see it.

I, like others want this for the easier integration of Amazon Prime AND Netflix.
Yeah you have the roku but this has much more promise and I guess I am a little bitter at Google for essentially killing the Google TV.
I just hope that Amazon tries to carry this torch better than Google did.

Now... rooting and getting the Google app store on top... that would be very nice indeed... but these companies will not come together like that.. no way.

What would be a VERY nice touch to these boxes is the ability to use them with your cable service. An example would be like UVerse (That I have) and since it's already IPTV I can't see it being too terribly hard to make an app for it and a new remote control to go with it.

Cable companies are not far behind with IPTV either... it's in their best interests to convert their HFC networks to all IPTV just to conserve bandwidth alone.

Again this is not Google TV. This is a regular Android distro and not an Android TV distro(Google TV)

They are sideloading apps like crazy on XDA. I have two people right now pushing Google Play Services and the Play Store to see if it works.

IPTV is nice but sucks for video quality because to many companies are pushing to many channels and compress the signal to much. The compression is so bad that you sometimes feel like your watching SD. I used to be on Uverse and then moved to a location that has sat or the local cable company(consolidated) let me tell you that Consolidated's IPTV version blows Uverse out of the water. The quality is far superior... but I digress...

Uverse does have an app for Android that allows you to watch live TV. But it's 20 station while in the house on their router not yours. and 10 while away. Really sucks!

Anyways I'll update once they push those apps over and get the Google Play store on it

Like OUYA for example. Will it be the same here?

Why can't games I buy on Android, if available here, be played here? Or, why can't I use my Play credits on this?

When will that day come :(

Because this is NOT android, its simply based on android. Android is open source and a great platform to build operating systems around, why simply because someone chooses to use this code to build a system on should mean that it should work on the play store is kind of boggling. This is FireOS not android.

Android is based on linux for the most part but people aren't getting worked up about not being able to install their normal linux apps.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be nice, but to have even a shred of expectation that it SHOULD be the case is a little absurd. I guarantee if they opened up the app store for this device and then 80% of the apps either didn't work or didn't work correctly that people would then be up in arms about that, so there is no winning this one.
