Just got an OTA software update (120 MB) - its added the Extreme Power Saving Mode!

I charged from 1% to 100% this morning - took between 2 to 3 hours. Sorry can't be more specific as was at work so missed when actually hit full.

Depends on the charger you are using. With the standard HTC charger and no usage it takes about 2.5 hours for my M7 to charge

Yes the m7 takes 2.5 hours with provided charger..

A lot of phones take 1-1.5 hours to charge...

Wondering if the m8 has improved upon this

Hopefully it will not take too long for the US versions to update and add this really useful feature!

I had an S3 before I got my M8 last week. I would plug it into my car charger if I was driving a distance an using sat nav. I found that the battery would still reduce as it was obviously drawing more power than the charger was supplying. With the M8 I have found the opposite. I can use maps in it for navigation and the battery remaining increases so there must be some reduction in what it draws to use maps or just a better charging circuit. Either way I am loving this phone.

The M9 has a slightly larger battery than the M7 doesn't it?

I can't remember off the top of my head. That should increase the charge time, unless they up the charge current. I'm not too keen in this department so I'm not 100%.

Anyhoo,the ALL NEW HTC ONE M8 is equipped w/Quick Charge 2.0 capability,yet,some genius decided to NOT include the proper charger as standard equipment to take advantage of this......:smokin:

Anyhoo,the ALL NEW HTC ONE M8 is equipped w/quick charge capability,yet,some genius decided to NOT include the proper charger as standard equipment to take advantage of this......:smokin:

and the charger they did supply (in the UK anyway) sticks out from the wall by a mile and won't fit in the socket behind my bed, at least without the risk of breaking it.

I could edit that and make it an 8, but what's the fun in that!

Why include the Quick charger with the phone? The company can supply the charger as an accessory at an additional cost. Makes sense from their standpoint, not so much from ours.

This Extreme Powersaver mode is supposed to really save some juice, interested to see what it does based on real life trials.

I think we should receive the quickcharge accessory for free. I will pay for it and I realize HTC can't afford to hand out anything. But if you are trying to become #1, you have to make customers salivate for your products. That could be the difference in selling one phone versus 20.

They gave us a perfectly useable Quick Charge 1.0 charger (40% faster than regular charger supposedly) and a killer battery life. Nothing wrong with them wanting to make a little money off an accessory.

I dunno, it seems kinda Chicken S*** to me. SAMSUNG is guilty of the same tactics w/the wireless charging. Their phones are capable, but, you have to also buy extra items (special battery cover or aftermarket coil) to utilize the feature.

I've got a week before the T-Mobile variant is available, & I'll make a final decision @ that time to whether this will be my next phone. As I've posted elsewhere, I probably won't get it & wait for a MAX variant.

My apologies if my tone has been on the negative side, but, the little things are starting to add up that are putting me off from this phone (wasted real estate/weird swipe to answer call/Quick Charge 2.0 that doesn't even have a charger available for purchase).
Should BLUETOOTH work flawlessly all-around, I could live w/the above (nit-picky) quirks & give it go.

We'll see Y'all in a week or so......

I plan on using it at work because I can't get 3G in my building at work and we do not have WiFi there either. And I plan on enabling the feature before bedtime. I hope they give us the ability to schedule it's use. That would be sweet.

Took me a few minutes to work out you had to pull the top pin up!!!! Really can't see why they have used this daft plug

If the powersaver mode is offered as an app, you can use another app called "Tasker" to accomplish this. Set the app up in tasker and it will be activated / deactivated to the rule set you enter.

Yes I have got the trail version of Tasker but so far not done too much with it as steep leaning curve. Any good guides on its usage?

There is another app- BatteryGuru that is designed to manage power usage on devices with snapdragon processors.

I am about to install it myself (it takes a few days to learn usage) to see how much my battery life improves over the already impressive life of this device.

I ran this on my nexus 5 and found no difference to be honest. It has some nice things like auto turning WiFi on and Off after it learns when your home.. but I didn't find the battery life improved.. in fact the whole reason I'm I here is because of how bad the nexus battery was.
