April 30, 2010, I've got the Update from Sprint

The web page doesn't show CJ05... It clearly shows the following 'current' update for the Moment...

Technical Specifications:
Dated: 2/19/2010
Software Version: S:M900.8.0S.CL14
PC Requirements: Windows 2000-SP4, Windows XP-SP2, Windows Vista, or Windows 7

Sprint Software Downloads - Smartphones - Samsung Moment with Google

Make sure you are going to the device download page above, NOT the one that shows the 'current software installed on your device' because you're right, that's never updated - in fact, my Moments arrived with CL14 on them.

Oh, that's just a support page? I thought that showed the version on 'my phone'... Oops...

But that is the same one that I thought was the 'current software installed on your device' page that I said above.
Blah, doesn't really matter... just shows that there was some sort of activity on Sprint's end today, as it related to the Moment's update.

Technically today is the end of "early Q2." Lets see what happens...

THIS IS NOT AN UPDATE FROM SPRINT. I'm not sure the changes that this one has made, but oh well. SDX forums has the apk uploaded of the updated version if you haven't received it yet.

WOW people are taking 2.1 way to seriously. I am pretty sure that this update came from Sprint since it was pushed over to the phone automatically, not a market upgrade, and neither Samsung or Google are doing that to the Samsung Moment.

Second which apk are you talking about, if you mean the 2.1 kernal the SDX version did not include this market update just the original 2.1DD03 and DD10 1710 version, the 1713 was just uploaded yesterday.

CC, my apologies I thought some light humor might be nice while we wait for 2.1, lock at your descretion

Trust me, the marketplace update came from Google and not Sprint. It's the same with apps that I got from the market and the updates, Sprint doesn't push those updates out either. and the .apk the person is referring to is the market update that was posted to SDX a couple of days ago.

in fact, this was mentioned on this forum already, and a few days ago:
http://androidforums.com/updates-cupcakes/68156-android-market-update.html

So, by your logic Sprint is pushing out the update to other carrier's Android devices too?

You should re-title the name of your thread to something like "Marketplace update"

Okay now I am curious, pdx, are you saying that google can automatically update my phone? I don't remember seeing that in the legalese/privacy info. The reason I am wondering about this is that all updates that I have seen have come in two classes.

Market updates (3rd party) with or without notification that you have to tell to install all of which install to data/apps and

Phone/system or OEM type updates which started in the system/apps directory and then get moved to data/apps and reregistered each time your phone boots (see logcat) which you still have to give permission to install.

The market update did not fall under either category because it did not ask permission to be installed like the new SFL or the last NFL or sprint nav 2.1 to 2.8 or google maps.

If I am incorrect about this fine but please explain it to me.

1. 1713 is one other android phones as well.
2. It was an automatic update from Google to Android. Not to Samsung, not to Motorola, not to HTC, but to Android. This isn't a Sprint exclusive update.
3.If it doesn't change how the market operates, then they don't have to notify you of an update. It probably just fixes a few bugs, or adds something to apps. And I actually found out what it's for, and that google rolled it out. Not Sprint. :D
1713 – Android and Me
4.Not build dd03 or build dd10, but the actual apk that contains market 1713 if you haven't received it yet is uploaded.

I noticed that my market recently started recognizing the apps that I had backed up and reinstalled from the SD card. This is a good thing for many of the consumers that were complaining that they couldn't get updates on their apps that they installed from the SD card.

On the other hand, now I am complaining that I am getting constant notifications to update apps that I had purposely separated from the market b/c I did not want the notifications for "updated" ad-supported versions:(
