Help override facebook contact pictures

1st post here, so hopefully it's a good one. Yes you can change the contact picture. If you are on the "link" screen for a contact, you should see a drop down arrow next to the picture. Hit that and it gives you an option to select from Photos, Camera, Phone and Facebook. You can do the same fo the display name.

beat me to it!

Select your contact - press menu - edit - tap the top left corner where you see the camera icon - choose a pic (I keep mine on the sd card) - then, save

go to the contact on your phone - tap on their name at the top, there is a drop down arrow

You will then see their name with pic you chose - select it to display

You do not need to remove the fb link to change the picture -

We might be saying the same thing, but...

Open up People, select your contact, right near the picture on their contact page select Details (it is very small). Once you are in there you will see a dropdown box next to the picture, you can now select whatever picture you like, from different sources depending on what you have active.

I was able to change it with this but every few hours the pictures always go back to the Facebook pics.

Also, I notice that once your facebook contact updates their profile photo to another one, it seems the photo it uses is still the same as the very first time you configured facebook for htc sense and linked the contacts people.

I had to remove my facebook htc sense account and add it back again to update the profile photo it uses. Anyone else have similar experience?

I'm having this same issue, Photo on phone will not update to current FB profile photo. Is the ^^above the only way to fix this issue?

How did you individually link your facebook contacts? Unless I sync all my facebook friends it won't let me link any of them :/

Remove all of your syncs. Run your Setup program again, do not add your FaceBook account during set up. Once you are done with setup, go back into where all of your Accounts and Syncs are. Now set up your Facebook. Open up People and there should be some link recommendations and if you want to link an account you simply open that particular contact, click on Link and then proceed to link them to FaceBook, Flickr, etc.

Yes, the process sucks, but it has worked just fine for me (aside from the odd profile picture issues).

You also have to check your FB sync settings and how long the time is between sync's is? This will explain why it doesn't update right when the picture is changed on FB.

My sync time is set to 2 hours. My sister just got back into town and upload a ton of pictures from her vacation and also changed her profile picture. It has been a little over 3 hours, I can see all of the pictures from People, but still haven't had her profile picture update. I've tried force syncing FaceBook and it hasn't changed the picture.

As for the picture problems, try this: Add the person or contact as a Google account contact. Add the appropriate picture, use that "account" as the display. That seems to have worked for the couple of contacts that I decided to use their Google account (because I already had the picture) for. Hopefully we will get this figured out or the program will get updated. Hopefully.

Bumping this one.

I'm experiencing the same issue, yet the fix listed here isn't working. I manually edited a contact and selected a camera picture to be the contact picture. I saved that setting, and even set my display preference to show the camera photo. However, as soon as i exit that screen, it displays the Facebook photo again. Any news on a fix that works?
