Help Watching Downloaded Videos on the Android

Hi. So i have the Droid Incredible. I also have a 16gig class 6 MicroSDHC.
I have movies at home. Avi's, mp4, mkv, etc...

I created a "videos" folder on the root of my 16gig and place different types of video files there

I know the incredible can't view avi's, but it should be able to view MP4 as is, correct? Mine won't read them. I need to convert them with an app (forgot the name) and convert them to 3gp. They videos always end up so crappy and pixelated.

is there a standard type of conversion I should be creating?

I don't even have a video player on the Incredible. Or do I and don't know where to find it? I was surprised to see QuickOffice already loaded (saved $10).

For the player you have to go to programs/photos and it will show videos,mp3,photos and camera shot. tap on all videos and select the one you want.

First of all, what application are you using to watch said videos? I've never been a fan of using the built in viewer that you use for photos or whatever and I doubt many movie fans do that either. What you need is to download Act 1 Player or something similar (check reviews at sites like AndroidTapp or AppBrain) and find one that is highly rated and specifically dedicated for video playback (Act 1 is my personal favorite, it gets good reviews, and it's dead simple and fast - pretty sure there's a free version if you don't want to pay the $1.79) I haven't fired up any .MP4's or .MPEG's on my Incredible yet but those are the two file types you'll want to be encoding in or downloading in. Check your manual, somewhere it says the filetypes - I saw it earlier but I'm not with mine now.

I used this convert my videos. Works great. I converted Fight Club at 720p down to 800x480 setting and it took up about 800mb.

I just find the file in astro and use the default player and it works fine for me.

I use handbrake for my droid. If you look in the moto droid forum there is a guide.
Handbrake is a free converter and will do .m4v files.

I've been using Xvid4PSP, use "iPhone or iPod Touch" setting, resolution of 720x400 (I know, it's not exactly 800x480, but it maxes out at 720 in that setting), and it encodes videon in h.264/AAC in .mp4 format. That, and you can also include subtitle should you need one (like anime... and more anime). Didn't like handbrake for the reason of cumbersome subtitle support. And before jumping on me with "but it's not 800x480", you wouldn't even notice the difference with this gorgeous display.
Takes about 15 minutes to encode 24 minute clip from 1280x720/h.264/.mkv source. You should install codec pack (such as CCCP or K-Lite) first, though.

I use Badaboom to transcode my video files to mp4 format at 720x480 resolution (standard movie aspect ratio). I find a 1500 kbit birate to be optimal. The reason I use Badaboom is cause it supports Nvidia CUDA so I can transcod full 2 hour movies in under half an hour.

There is also an app called YXFLASH. It will play xvid and divx without needing to convert.

It's not the prettiest app (pretty much just a file browser) BUT it will see the internal memory (yea!!!!!) You just have to navigate to the emmc directory for that.

Most of the issues that people report are because of slow microsd cards (voices being slightly out of sync). It doesn't appear to happen with the internal memory at all.

When you download it, it will play 2 min if you want to give it a shot before spending the.... choke... 9.99 on it. But if you play a lot of videos...the 10 would probably be worth it (your time converting is worth something)

is
VisualHub.

Both are pretty easy to use if you're new to converting.

U will have to look around in order to get this software.
Techspansion shut it doors
I work with video and still use V.H. for converting.
I also use Final Cut Pro but thats overkill for what you're needing to do.

Act 1 Player is decent, and will improve in time.

What is the best site to download feature films in mp4 or commonly used formats? I'd prefer a legal vendor, willing to pay. Amazon unBox does not recognize incredible as supported device. Does that make this site useless?

If it recognizes the Droid, you should be fine...

I too use unbox to download movies. They show up on my Galaxy s but when i try and play it it says that the license has expired. I downloaded the mobile version as well.
