Has anyone DROPPED their Incredible yet (WITHOUT Protection)?

Okaaay. I'm 24 hrs in, haven't dropped the phone yet, and I am NOT using "protection".

I'm curious to hear if any of you new Incredible owners have dropped your phone yet (unprotected/without a case)!

I'm not all that interested in any of the cases that are available so far and would like to wait until something better comes along.

In the meantime, I'm curious to hear how this thing holds up to drops. Scuffs? Dings? Scratches? Explosions?

On a side note, I did absent mindedly drop my phone into the same pocket as my keys for no more than 90 seconds. When I pulled it out there were 3 or 4 tiny scratches on the top-left corner....luckily they are barely noticeable....whew, I'm an idiot!

Side note: I did promptly purchase a screen protector after that, but am still holding out for some better cases or to hear how these things hold up to some light, accident prone abuse.

Edit: I did see that someone already has a thread going referencing their phone dropping, however, this phone was protected....I am interested in hearing from those of you thrill seekers (like me) that don't use protection!

This is disturbing.

Lesson learned....ALWAYS use protection kids!

Honestly, I don't think there are too many phones out there that won't scratch when put in a pocket with keys.

I know there are *some* made with special sratch-resistant/proof glass, but I don't think the Incredible is one of them.

This was due to my own stupidity for putting the phone in my pocket w/ keys....thats just what happens. That said, the scratches are not a big deal at all and really are not noticeable. Just be sure to use a screen protector!

Yeah...before spending a lot of money on one I'm waiting for the extended battery (noticed how quickly it dies yesterday)

BUT....

Before heading out tonight I will stop by my local mall and get some little fabric slip case with neoprene or something for $5 for some scratch protection. Should help a drop too (I never really drop a phone using a phone...its usually when its being taken out of my pocket)

I had it slip out of my jacket pocket earlier today while I was tying my shoe. It's got a little scuff/scratch on the lower right corner (plastic casing, not screen). You can't really see it, but can feel the scratch. I'll be putting a case on it, so that will cover it.

So yes, just like any plastic, a short drop (maybe 2 feet from my pocket to ground) to concrete will result in a scratch.

my left front pocket is always dedicated to my phone so i can never scratch it in my pocket. although as the crystal screen protector that everyones talking about comes out i'll be getting it.

yup i dropped it 2x in less than 24hours. 2 mini dings on the top plastic one on the camera bezel and one on the bottom right corner. soooo pissed. cause i didnt notice them after i dropped them. it was a few hours later. i thought i had gotten away unscathed, i guess i was wrong. ordered a case right away. screen protector on its way also. oh well. things happen.

1st caught charger cord with foot.
2nd fell out of front pocket while putting fix-a-flat in my tire, late for work.. i think the whole parking lot hear me yell.

Yeah I did...I got it the day before launch, and went in to Verizon because I wanted to get the high gloss silicone case. They didn't have the accessories yet and said they would have them on launch day. Well on my way in the next morning it slipped out of my hands in the Verizon parking lot and skittered across the asphalt face down. The screen held up, but now I got nicks along the rim. It's not as tough as the Eris was, it seems a bit more fragile.

i was pulling mine outta my pocket when i accidently put it in the pocket with keys. pulled it out and slung it about 2 feet across the room about 3 ft in the air. hit a dresser drawer fell on hardwood floor. nothing at all thank god. needless to say i went and got the amzer case for 30 bucks from verizon to hold me over until the innocase is released.

I have dedicated pockets for everything... keys in front left, flashlight in front left or left cargo, pocket knife back left, wallet back right, yadda yadda...

Well, depending on which gun I take out on any given day and the holster that goes with it, sometimes my dedicated cell pocket (front right) is occupied by my KelTec P3AT .380 pocket pistol... so, in this case, the cell gets bumped down to right cargo.

Wellanyhow, the other day I was walking through a local hardware store and my cargo shorts swung out and my phone knocked into a shelf... I thought for sure it would have been damaged but nothing happened thankfully.

I'm going to get a rubber slip-on case more than likely... I'm not a fan of hard plastics and I'm more worried about it sliding out of my hand or pocket, which rubber will help that issue
