I took some pics of my Eris and Incredible side by side if anyone is interested to compare the two.

I think it's disappointing that the screen is much larger than the Eris, yet it doesn't offer any more functionality than the Eris. (extra row of widgets, etc...) But I guess it's what is inside the body that is more impressive.

You're right. With larger screen and higher resolution I would've liked to have seen at least 5 rows and/or columns.

Well, nice to see comparisons. Looks like it's all internal and we're gonna need to mess around with it in person to really appreciate it.

I got the Shadow (Nexus Two) on my radar now. Starting to look a lot like a more refined Droid. Still a bit clunky, but a lot smoother at the same time.

2.2 next month (looks like that one guy was right and I was wrong  ) and it should hit the Nexus One first and the EVO will be the first device to LAUNCH WITH 2.2.

Purchased one last night for my son (his money) and the larger screen really helped my aging eyes. After working with his for awhile, I found I was squinting to read certain things on mine. And the bigger size didn't make much of a difference in the subjective feel of the phone in my hand.

But once we explored some of the "new" features, it really wasn't that much different to use than my Eris. yes, a bit faster, but I keep mine running pretty quick, so no reason I'd upgrade at this point.

Surprised me that it has backup assistant, which could come in handy in the future. Hopefully they'll add this to all their smartphones soon.

The main thing for me not getting it is the (even more) squarish shape and the grooves on the back... I wouldn't MIND the slightly larger size though. Part of the reason I love my Eris so much is because of the way it looks and feels in my hand... And I like the trackball. I think I'm gonna wait for the next phone or when I have my next upgrade. And, if I want 2.1, I can always install a leak if for some reason it never comes out for the Eris OTA.

Well I went to the VZW store today, and due to my New Every Two kicking in today, and being able to get the $100 rebate instantly (not sure why), AND best of all - being able to keep my sweet Alltel plan, I bought an Incredible. $150 plus tax. Not too bad. I bought the Eris from someone on Craigslist a few weeks back to hold me over so I'll be selling it soon. in the mean time I will probably continue to play with Roms and what not on it.

Yes it the speed is much better. But, I think the Eris' screen quality is actually better than the Incredible. Although smaller, it seems like the color accuracy is much better on the Eris. The Inc. screen is not horrible, but the sooner I get the Eris out of my sight the better so I can adjust to the Inc.

Don't tell my wife about any of this though...

I think the Color on the Incredible pops out more to your eyes
than the eris
and from the short time I had one, the battery life was a lot better(even with taking a bunch and I do mean a bunch of pix...like near a 100 on the inc) vs the same amount on the eris and the battery was nearly dead...

However i love how the eris(and now my hero) feels in my hand...
It just felt so big(ew, just thought how that sounded)
and i can only imagine how big the evo will feel(again, notice how this sounds...my bad lol)

Droid incredible is not really that incredible to me but more like Droid Eris 2.0

Thanks for posting the pics, they really provided a great physical comparison, especially the pic with both screens turned on. I was wondering how the Eris and Incredible screens compare when viewing outdoors in direct sunlight, since I've read so much about the poor viewability of AMOLED screens in direct sunlight, to the point they become almost unreadable. I've found the Eris to be tolerable as long as I crank up the brightness to 100%. Since you have both, your comparison would be greatly appreciated.

I like how they kept the width of the phone about the same and just made the 3.7 screen stretched taller. I don't like wide phones.
Otherwise, I mean by design, they ARE very close, but the Eris looks better.
Very true. If the phone were any thicker I would return it. Length wise it's about the same, no noticeable diff. The curves on the Eris are nicer and it's a better feel in the hand. But it's not industrial like as some have suggested. The MotoD is industrial and brick like. Compared both the Eris and DI to an iPhone last night and both beat the iPhone. There is only one major difference between the two. Speed. Brightness and viewing outside is very similar. I like the connector on the bottom on the Eris vs on the side with the DI. I think I can get used to it, however. Track pad works exactly the same as the trackball, can't really tell the difference. Worth $169? Tough call, just a personal decision.

Its a crystal clear sunny day out today and I just tested the Eris and Incredible side by side in direct sunlight. Both phones had brightness all the way up. I see ZERO difference as far as readability between the two. Both phones were dim obviously but still usable. I dont see where people are coming from when they say than AMOLED screens are hard to see in the sun. Direct sun perfromance was IDENTICAL to the Eris.
