Factory reset Samsung Galaxy Note 2 to 4.1.1. ?

Maybe a silly question, but if I factory reset my phone, does it go back to Android version 4.1.1. or it stays 4.1.2. ? I'm asking because I HATE 4.1.2. ! This update gave me problems with my LED indicator and rotation, so I'd like to go back to version 4.1.1. Also, if you know an easier way of doing that, please tell me! Thanks!

I guess for you the factory reset will be a blessing, not a curse It's typical for Factory Reset of the phone to bring it back to the original "factory setting" just the way you got it, which means it should go back to 4.1.1. Make sure to backup all your data.

Actually, if it is stock official ROM updated by Samsung, then NO.

You cannot revert back to the previous version unless you go the ODIN route. Factory reset will just wipe everything off the phone, but still retain v4.1.2. However, by doing a factory reset, it might fix the bugs you might be experiencing. Generally, I'd use the Android Recovery Console and do a cache wipe first followed by a complete wipe back to factory defaults.

See how your device is afterwards. If it's behaving, great. If not, then there might be a hardware/driver flaw the update exposed (which is a possibility). If you still don't like 4.1.2 (even if it is working properly again), you'll need to hunt for the official ROM specific to your device and flash it through ODIN. Best place to look is XDA.

unrooted and went and odin back to stock last night (4.1.1)
this morning had update 345mb turns out it gave me all the updates
at once from 4.1.1 to newest 4.1.2 i317ucamh3
right now im at 68% left with 11hrs 18min straight on battery
with 2:42 screen time (38%)
for me battery life is better than it was on cleanrom for the past week
I think its possible new modem/kernal are finally a winning combo
i think i will leave it stock unrooted for a bit to see how it acts...
cant wait for some KitKat

I've only owned Samsung Notes (Note, Note 2 and Note 10.1). Once updated to the latest official latest ROM, it cannot be reverted back to the previous version. Even an emergency firmware recovery through KIES will not work if the update has been applied successfully.

When I do an update, I actually wipe the cache partition and perform a hard reset back to factory default using the Android Recovery Console. Then perform the update and do another cache wipe and hard reset. This gives me a clean install of the update.

I've performed hard resets with the latest ROM installed on all these devices and none reverted back to the ROMs they came with when originally bought. And I perform hard resets every few months to keep the devices in tip top performance. The update is permanent in this sense.

I have a note 2 with 4.1.2 with att and want to unlock it so I can use it on straight talk but it won't let me cause It's on 4.1.2 I guess I need to downgrade to 4.1.1.. can some one help me please.

Rich, there's a rooting/unlocking guide in each of the "root" subforums. You need to go to the forum that matches your device (ATT, International, Verizon, etc).
