Help Any way to keep GOOGLE Maps from going to sleep?

I was hoping someone could help me as I'm using Google Maps to keep an eye on live traffic and have the screen timing out. Annoying when I have security on the phone and have to keep putting my pattern in while driving. Any options besides removing security or extending the time?

Also, can someone give a definite answer whether or not WIFI drains the batter faster? Should I be using WIFI at home as opposed to 3G for optimal battery life?

I know that navigation on the phone wont shut the screen off. And you can add a live traffic layer to that. Not sure if this will do what you want but you can try.

I think it depends on how much data you plan on using at home. But i don't know if there is a definite answer yet.

I actually just found a solution - an app called SCREEBL.

It prevents the screen from timing out depending on the angle you are holding it. Very cool and just what I needed.
