I just got a droid x and I am hearing a lot about "rooting" it. Is it safe? What are the downsides? whats the best way to do it?
Go on to the market and search for "Z4root" that is the easiest way to root did mine in 10 secs seriously! and also has unroot feature which is nice!

This is coming from the biggest chicken in the bunch. But rooted and haven't done anything else expect d/l some apps, particularly wireless tether. My phone didn't explode, everything works as before and I'm happy. Waited for months to do it and only have kicked myself in the ----- well, you know, since.
Wait till you start flashing ROMs and themes, you'll wonder why you were using stock for so long!
So now that I am rooted how do uninstall all the crapware?
I would advise either freezing it with the paid version of Titanium Backup Pro or renaming it with Root Explorer - not uninstalling.
Also, if you use a custom ROM that is "blurless" like the Rubix focused I use, all those apps are removed, saving you the effort.
Hello i'm new to this and have just got an HTC Desire HD and also hurt about this rooting just wondering is it safe and it things go wrong can you delete the apps
It will just as safe.So I keep hearing about rooting my Droid X. I am not sure what it will do? Whether it is safe or not. I know that not being able to take screenshots drives me crazy.
Of course there are other things too that drive me nuts about my phone. The fact that there are apps that I never use that are part of the phone.
It's a Verizon Motorola Droid X that I use on Straight Talk.
So my question is.
If I root my phone; is it still safe to check my online bank account on my phone?
yes many screenshot apps in play store I like https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.geeksoft.screenshotWill I be able to screenshot?

Sorry for sounding like an idiot, but I really want to make sure I don't screw it up. Some searches say "BAD" some say "GOOD" so it's a bit confusing to know which.
I appreciate any help and opinions on this.
Not sure if this info helps but;
it's a 2.3.4
