Well so am I!

I started this thread because i think i'm amongst the majority here so maybe we can get some specific responses.

Here's what i'm looking for

- Form Fitting so as not to add bulk, but thick enough to provide some protection in case it's dropped. Also thin enough so that it will fit in any desktop charger/cradle that comes out.

- No high ridges (Especially on front like on the Body Glove) so that it doesnt block access to Optical Joystick, Volume Rocker, Power Button and USB Port.

- One piece - So if/when it's dropped the phone doesnt explode into a yard sale and it stays protected.

- Protection for Camera (Flush)

- Carry over styling on stock back cover (doesnt matter to me but may to some)

- Material - enough grip so that it wont slip out of your hand or off your shoulder but not too much so that you can't get it out/into your jeans.

- Color selection (but black is fine)

For me, I would mind a little extra thickness/weight because i feel like it's too fragile and hard to hold onto (mostly because it's slippery). But the cases i've seen (Gradient, Body Glove, Silicone) either add too much bulk, are too sticky, or are just not plain not good.

So, do we know of any that are close to this profile?

Any companies out there that people are waiting for cases from that have made ones they like for other phones or iPhone?

Thanks for sharing!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to cases and holsters as well. I am currently using the Verizon brand of case/holster. I don't have a direct link, but you can see it in the accessories:
Droid Incredible by HTC| Mobile Phones | Verizon Wireless
It fits your requirements to a T. My biggest requirement is that the phone can NOT come off my belt. The belt clip is U shaped and holds well. I'm not thrilled about the lattice style texture on the surface, but it's not like I've got a choice.

That actually doesnt look half bad. Dont know why i didnt see that on the site before. In case anyone else is curious:

(also made by Amzer)

Amzer Shell Holster/Case Combo

Although i wouldnt use the holster, the case does look pretty neat. Not crazy about the lack of coverage on the bottom of the phone though but i'm not looking for perfection..

Definitely an interesting option and will be looking for more reviews/pictures of this one.

Colchicine: It looks as though the top and bottom of the phone arent adequately protected. What's your experience?

Thanks!

I bought this case for now, but I'm concerned that the phone will fall out over time. It just seems like it will loosen up and the phone could slide out. The holster has loosened up already and it's a day old. Only time will tell.

Yeah it definitely looks like a "for now" case until something comes out that is exactly what i want...

I'm waiting to get the Seido Innocase because I can put it in the desktop charger without taking it off

What Desktop Charger? Lol. That's one of my main concerns as well, so if the Amzer case doesnt allow me to dock with it on, then it's definitely going to be shelved.

Here's the Seidio website for the Inc for those waiting for Seidio stuff:

Seidio - Your Single Source for Premium Smartphone Accessories

Although the Innocase Surface II case you're probably referring to is a 2-piece case..so is probably a no go for me.

We'll see when the desktop charger/cradles comes out, but for now, i'm protecting my phone from the inevitable "oopsie!".

Now i'm off to find the "perfect" screen protector!

Aside for a bit of bulk the BodyGlove is a beautiful case. I put it on as soon as I got my phone and I'm amazed at how nicely it fits and how nice it feels in my hand with the rubber like feel. All the seams come together flush and even. It's really a nicely made and handsome case.

I've had it with Seidio. Out of 5 desktop chargers in my house, three of them have failed. In two of them the USB connecter simply fell out, and one of them just flat doesn't work. Warranty service? Ship them back at my own expense in their original packaging, and they will examine them and maybe send replacements. I really like their cases, but I won't spend another dime with a company that won't stand behind their products.

Thats a pretty comprehensive list of what a case should be. I think what you've described is an iPhone case and yeah i wish there were something like that to compliment my Incredible.

I want something that will add just a little bulk cuz it feels a touch too slim for typing in portrait.
Pretty much, I've seen an iPhone case made by "incase" that is pretty much perfect. It's a hard shell that is sturdy but stylish and doesn't add hardly any bulk with just the right friction coefficient material and the bottom part slides off with a stiff pull to expose the bottom ports for docking with accessories. Unfortunately incase doesn't make cases for other devices. Hopefully we see something good come from another manufacturer

I also have the BodyGlove. I do agree that the look is very becoming of the device. The bulk is a double edged sword, it's nice cause it means if I drop it flush it's less likely any part of the screen would come into contact with the ground, however, when I'm flicking or trying to tap near the edges (such as the home button) the side definitely gets in the way a little so it is for sure not our ideal case.

Just got back from the mall and, although i went in thinking i was going to buy the Holster/Shell Combo i mentioned above, i ended up walking out with this:

High Gloss Silicone Case Protector for $16.99

First:

The Holster/Shell Combo from Amzer did not have as much grip as i was hoping for as it was about as slippery as the back cover of the phone with a little more texture due to the lattice work on the case. It didnt cover the bottom or top of the phone which was a concern, although it did seem to stay in the case really well (no play and it was hard to get out).

Overall i just wasnt feelin it. The ridges were too high which was too noticeable when swiping and texting. Also, the volume rocker and power key cutouts were really big and it just made the case look a little lacking.

I will say, for those looking for a holster solution, this one seems to be pretty solid. Not many choices yet i know, but you could do worse. It's just not for me to have a plastic holster hanging off my belt.

So i knew i was all set w/ a 2 piece cover which ruled out the Gradient One and the Hard Shell they have. So i almost left when the CSR there was like, "what about this silicone one".

I kinda grimmaced and was like "yeah i'm just worried it's gunna be too sticky and be difficult to get in/out of jeans, but i'll give it a shot".

I put it on and first of all, it's not as glossy as it looks in the picture, but it is still pretty glossy. The transparency of it makes it neat cuz you can see "HTC" through the back. I actually like the diamond inlay design too, so the case passed the eye test.

The Inc fit snug as a bug in the case and the ridges are about as low as I imagine you can possibly get with any case, and it's rounded/smooth nature makes it a non issue when swyping/texting even though you do hit it when your thumb.

the big test was the stickiness, and would've been a dealbreaker for me, but i had a pretty snug pair of jeans on (not grape smugglin snug but snug enough to test) and it went in and came out like a dream.

The case provides enough grip so that it won't slip off your shoulder or out of your hand too. Again, it's not even close to as sticky as i thought it was going to be, but just enough. In fact, i would prefer it to be a little more tacky so as to provide enough grip to not slide off of my car dash, but it's certainly not an issue.

As i was writing this review i accidentally dropped my Inc for the first time (from about 3 feet) and it's got some good give. I felt no sinking stomach feeling when dropping this as i would have if it was naked, so that right there is worth the $. It's adequately protected.

Lastly, the volume rocker and power keys are COVERED by this case but they are still very usable (dont have to press too hard to activate them). I like this alot and am glad it has it. I tend to get a lot of dirt/crap on my phones so this should help keep that crap out of my Inc.

I then went to the Zagg booth at the mall to buy an Invisible Shield. I figured why not have the pro install it for free rather than me muck it up at home? He did a stellar job and, although it gives it a little bit of a tacky feel, the con is outweighed by the pros of knowing that i am fully protected now. It looks mint and with the case i got, every spec of the phone is covered and protected.

I just hope it fits in a dock/charger with the case, or some case. We'll see.
