I use navigation on my motorcycle and I used to be able to use Pandora at the same time, but lately just keeps stalling.

Some seem to think in 2.1 Android's memory management is somehow messing with services that Pandora needs to run. Would installing it as a system app help in any way??

I am running Cyanogen 5.0.5.7 if it matters at all. I can't remember when the problem first started happening, but I know I am not the only one with this problem.

I had this issue with pandora even before I rooted. That is the most obnoxious thing to have your music quit on a bike where you can't just reach over & restart it!!

Slacker seems better about it, but not perfect.

Yup...it sucks. I do have a ram mount for my phone, but with gloves on, the screen doesn't recognize my touch. So I would have to pull over and take my gloves off, just to get music going again.

I have the same problem with cubed but not the default player so that is why I was wondering if possibly having Pandora installed as a system app would help.

I decided the only way to find out would be to just do it, so I did. I am currently listening to pandora, running google nav, and typing this reply. I made sure to open a bunch of apps before hand to load up the cache as well. So far not a single stall or hiccup. I did install CM 5.0.6.1 this morning so that may have made a difference as well. I wil report back after a couple days of use.

I can't use pandora and google nav at the same time either. I tried installing pandora as a system app using root explorer by copying the com.pandora.apk from data/app to system/app then click it and press install. It still stops on me when I start up maps. I used to be able to run both before but I I was on smoked glass now I'm on Fab's NexTheme.

Anyone else have this issue, or know what to do?

Bump.

I have this problem too. I can manually close every background app with ATK before starting Pandora and Google Maps (in that order) and it never fails to immediately stop playing after I start navigation with Google maps. So after I get started navigating I have to kill Pandora with ATK, then start it again only to have it crap out after a few songs AGAIN! This has been a problem since I've had the phone, basically. Someone help me/us out please! I'm running NexBeast 1.0.1 OC'd with Chevys 1.1 GHz LV kernel at the moment.

Thanks!

It ended up working for me to kill all the background apps using a task killer then run pandora and google nav. Haven't had a problem since. I am running the same ROM as you, only difference is I'm using the P3droid kernel LV 1GHZ, and before that the bekit kernel LV 1GHZ, with no problems either, (shouldn't matter matter what kernel you are running I don't think, but thought I would mention what I use anyways.)

Just thought I'd chime in here. My music stops playing once I try to start any other process. One time the music stopped playing immediately as I hit the Home button - and I was only a few seconds into my first song. So next I killed Pandora app (it's still running but non-responsive), start it again, then hit the back button. Opened the GV app to send SMS and as soon as I hit send, the music stopped. It consistently does this, even with the Messaging app for normal SMS.

The music just stops, the app doesn't quit, and hitting the play button doesn't do anything. I'm currently running CM 5.0.7.1 and only really noticed the issues after running 5.0.7t1. Then again, I can't confirm that these problems existed prior to that because I seldom use Pandora.

Just posting my info in case anyone has insights on these problems.
