Probably not as I haven't worn a watch in years (tend to just use my phone to tell the time now).

However the Moto 360 looks nice...

I like the look of the new ones, but I have a Pebble steel, and I really do like it because it is less obvious as a smart watch, and I feel like my office might get upset over me having constant access to my cellular device through my watch, just another thing to distract employees during meetings.

So I don't know if I will plunge into the smart watch world even more, if I do it won't be until the end of the year.

I have zero need for one and tell myself so all the time. However, I can see myself getting a Moto 360 even though I have no need for one! So no, not getting one today or anytime soon, or hopefully really never. But yeah, that 360 looks sharp. Sigh.

i have the gear 2 and i love my watch. it has a lot of advantages that i use on a daily basis. s-voice is great to text while you are driving. i have hands free calling if i need it. i can use it when i workout measuring my heartbeats. i use the pedometer every day to monitor my days activity and how many miles i walk. i plan on using it for going on hikes now that it is summer......plus i can play pacman if i wanted to

yep....you can just use s-voice and say call Jan and it will dial and Jan and you can talk to her thru your watch......pretty cool....the speaker could be a little louder though.

or you can dial it on the watch or just look up your contact on your watch.

This could be a deal breaker for me with smart watches. I use my hands free in my car a lot. Plays the audio through the radio, etc. If the watch takes over that function, I don't think it's smart enough to turn off the music (or more likely the podcast, I've got on a flashdrive in the console) during a call. If I had to unpair and repair the phone and car and watch several times a day, i'd get tired of it very fast.

yeah mine does not pair with the car radio. it has a built in speaker. i have to lower the radio's volume, if i need to make or answer a call while driving. for me it is still pretty convenient as i do not have a bluetooth car speaker or ear piece.

but who knows what functionality will come in future wearables. curious to see what the moto 360 will come with.

edit: i will say this........i have never gotten more compliments about my watch until i started wearing my gear 2. i have some pretty expensive watches that are really nice and they do get noticed from time to time. but my watch is on another level.....i guess people are just curious about these new devices.

I have a Citizen and a Pebble Steel. Kind of switch them out depending on what I am doing.

I don't think I'll be bothering at the moment. Main problems seem to be that each brand of smartwatch is proprietary to a particular brand of phone, like the Samsung smartwatch only works with certain Samsung phones etc.

The Pebble one looks the most interesting, because that's not proprietary, should work with any smartphone, plus I like the idea of the always on e-ink type screen, no need to be pressing any buttons to see it. Reminds me of the bad old days of 1970s LED watches. But I think the Pebble might be only available in the US.

well the LG G watch, Samsung Galaxy Live, and the Moto 360 will all be compatible as long as you have a device with 4.3 or higher. it is only Samsung Galaxy Gear watches that are not compatible with all devices yet.

The Samsung Galaxy Gears are the only ones that are generally available here AFAIK, most stores have them. Of course they won't work with my Oppo, which has 4.4.4, and nor my Galaxy Win Duos, which has 4.1.

There are a load of off-brand Chinese ones available for around $50-80 bucks, but most of them look rather crummy and cheapo, and not something I'd want to wear or use. Can even get a smartwatch with a phone built-in, which I believe is particularly crap.

Or a generic smartwatch to use with CM11 on my WFS.

ASUS is making a pretty cheap smartwatch, I think it was around ~$100

i am more partial to the Gear Live. less expensive, plus the Wear's round screen looks goofy in a smartwatch. reminds me of more modern internals shoved into Wozniak's Nixie watch.

real test would involve durability under fire. my first gen Gear still looks nice despite abuse from work, exposed to oil, gasoline, rubs against engine parts, smacks on the floor, water...

not sure how the Live or Wear is constructed, or if it is built more like the Pebble, which was my first which lasted a few months before it finally died, although it looked downright awful after a few weeks. wasnt as scratch resistant as gorilla glass.

Why do I need a smart watch at first place ?

well for me and my gear 2 it helps make my life easier.

for me i use the pedometer and even the heart rate monitor when i workout.

i like the fact that i can use hands free phone calling. and the s-voice of the watch is pretty good. i can even text via s-voice.

the camera can come in handy as i can take snap shots quickly if i need it for work.

plus it is the cool factor.....i never have received so many compliments or inquiries about my watch before. i own a $300 Fossil watch that is really cool, but that usually goes ignored.

but to each their own, i guess.

Not interested. It's too big and goofy looking on the wrist.. almost as bad as the I-Glass. On top of this the price is out of my range of things to buy myself for a whole year.. lol jk jk

too big? my Fossil watch is bigger.......like i said to each their own.

gonna save up for the moto 360.....maybe this xmas i will get it......this one looks much smaller and more design friendly with the circular face plate.
