Updated to 2.1 using SWUpdate method.
Firmware: 2.1 update1
Baseband: DD03
Kernel: 2.6.29
Build: ECLAIR DD03

2 Main issues are:
  1. Phone locks up- looks powered down but can't restart, have to pull battery.
  2. Battery life is pathetic at best.
I did not install anything like the recovery apk or live wallpaper fix etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

1. Try menu>settings>about phone>system updates>update profile (update prl too).
2- Some say DD10 is better, but I didn't notice a major difference. There are a few battery saving threads here and on SDX that might help. I'm hopefull that Samsung will fix this and the location errors at least to what we had with cl14. From my house google maps using tower location has me 22 miles away with 2.1 (ddo3, dd10), but in my backyard with 1.5/cl14.

I suggest to update to DD10, because that has a few battery fixes. I have found that I had some battery issues as well. What I have found to be successful is to restart my moment a few times. That seems to settle everything, not sure why, but it does. Also, watch what widgets you are running because some update in the background and can kill your battery. Most only run if the phone is on. When I have had shorter battery life, my phone was warm when not in use...weird. A restart fixed that issue. I only use Advance Task Manager to kill some programs that i don't use or want taking up memory. Other that that I close it and don't use the auto kill option or leaving it running in the notification bar. There is no need with 2.1. This has resulted in a good days use for me and I recharge over night.
