Factory Data Reset: How to ensure that my previously downloaded apps do NOT auto re-install?

So Cal
In the past when doing a factory reset, all of my previous downloaded apps automatically re-installed back to my Moto X. How do I STOP this from happening this time?

I thought of just deleting the ones i don't want, prior to the re-install, but also thought there was a way of keeping the phone from auto downloading them during the setup after the factory reset.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks.

When the phone first starts and you sign in to Google, make sure that you remove the check on "backup and restore my phone". As long as that isn't checked, it shouldn't reinstall your apps.
