Remove full screen album art from lockscreen?

Is there a way to disable the full screen album art on lock screen when playing Music? IMO it looks ugly and some of the pictures can get very pixelated. The previous widget before the KitKat update where there was a list of song was so much better. Is there any way to revert to that?

You cant disable the full screen lock screen album art, however you can kinda cheat your way out. Simply, when playing music on the stock samsung music app, open play music and use the home button to get out of play music. Lock your phone and turn on your screen. Idk if this works on every samsung galaxy phone running kitkat but it does work on my note 3.
NOTE: if you skip or pause music you have to open play music again!

Thanks that does work.. however I have sorta become used to the new look. At first I was PO'd, but it has grown on me.

Simply put, album art on the lock screen is a privacy leak. No one needs to know what music I am listening to, but the album art on the lock screen pretty much broadcasts it. Also, I can barely input my lock pattern if the album art is light colored. So in terms of a feature, this is as bad as it gets. However, I found a fix... Rocket Player. Its actually a really solid music player and in the settings, they have an option to disable the album art from the lock screen! Trust me, I tried like 3 lock screen apps and several music players, either the apps were garbage or they didnt fix the problem. Rocket player pretty much saved me, plus its a solid music player, some great features in there. I was so relieved to plug this privacy hole up :)

all you need to do is use an MP3 Tag Editor on all your MP3 files and remove the Album Covers that are stored on them. You'll save some storage space doing that also. there will be NO picture when you play the MP3

Or, you could out a black picture in it's place....
cover the camera lens and take a picture and use that in place of an album cover using the tag editor.

Good luck and Aloha!

I dont think editing every single mp3's album art is a good solution. For me, I like the album art. I just wish it was only shown when im interacting with my music in the music player. Instead, the album art is presented when I do my most essential phone tasks like checking the time, checking messages, email, etc. When im listening to music, I may be on the subway, or somewhere else public, and now that private information is leaked to anyone who may glance at my phone.

No offense, but does it really matter if someone sees what you are listening to? What are you listening to that would be a problem for someone seeing the cover art? Just curious.

I didnt say that, you said that. I am proud of what I listen to, I just wish to keep it private because its no ones business.

This is the case in point. My music preference has now been leaked on this forum and now I am being made fun of... :(

Dude.. no one is making fun of anyone. I was just trying to understand your concerns... Frankly I listen to some of the same music.. nothing wrong with that.

I thought this was pretty funny. I don't know what sort of music you listen to that you are so keen to hide from the prying eyes of others, but the mind boggles.

I am listening to a recording of Alfred Brendel playing the Beethoven piano sonatas right now and I don't care who knows it :).

So, regardless of if you listen to Britney, Bob Marley or the Smurfs, privacy is not the issue here, the fact the light coloured artwork makes it nigh on impossible to see the numbers when you're entering your PIN or unlock swipes is the issue. Did anyone stumble on an option that doesn't require 3rd party apps to fix?

As it is, I only listen to music from Soundcloud so I don't have to faff about copying music to my device all the time so AFAIK, there's no 3rd party SC app which would stop album art from being placed on the lock screen.

My only gripe with it is that it doesn't display properly. Since it tries to fit the album cover (most of which are more or less square) onto a rectangular screen it chops off the sides. I would rather it displayed the whole cover with black bars at the top and bottom.

I have tried to see whether it can be changed or removed but so far I have drawn a blank.

Anyone got a solution to this yet ? I underrstand some people might enjoy this feature, but for me it makes the play music app unuseable. When I walk or run, the screen never locks fully, so it continually skips to the next song due to motion of the phone in my pocket. Walking is jsut annoying, skipping every now and then, but running it skips continually.

There is an option to "block songs with explicit lyrics" but nothing to disable the lockscreen. :/

No solution, but if you turn off the screen while its in your pocket it wont be able to have it skip. That's what I have found works.

This is an inherent function of Android. Most audio apps (podcasts, Pandora, Google Play) will show full screen album art in the lockscreen.

Cover does not allow you to lock your device through a pattern or code.

The best workaround I found was to use Smart App Lock. It can be configured to replace the default lock screen, it doesnt add anything extra to the lock screen, and it does not show album art in the background.
