Radio reception- Perhaps there are two "issues"

Issue 1: Bars and dB levels

After much testing, including a BB (our company uses VZW for the crackberry). Signal is just as good as the BB phones and there does appear to be a bar issue. BB and Inc show area of two bar difference but very similar dB signals. I do not think there is a standard for correlating bars and dB levels, so Inc seems to be too understate on its bar level, compared to BB.

Issue 2: Droid and Inc radio (everything is relative)

I have yet to lose a signal on the Inc or a dropped call. Most areas have 3G I have tried for both devices. The Droid radio does appear to be more robust with signal and better range. I have tried Youtube and downloads to test. I think the Droid radio has about 30% more power/performance with range and it is better than most devices- not just Incredible.

In summary, I think the Inc radio is not defective, just not as strong as Droid's. Not many are, based on reviews and experience by Droid owners and their previous devices.

I returned Droid, since really loving the extra space for apps on Inc and the speed without messing with rooting. I live in Kentucky and 3G is almost everywhere and even the 1X in more remote areas is almost as good as Tmo 3G in Lexington. Sad but true.

Only issue now is to see if I can handle less gaming action, since Droid KB worked well with emulators. Inc is not that bad (touch pad is very responsive). Three weeks to test :)

Thanks...my wife is thinking about an Incredible, so your comparison is useful.

One note - I don't know if the extra space is a real issue, other than from a marketing perspective. I have somewhere over 100 3rd-party apps on my Droid and am running at 600MHz w/out performance or memory issues. Unless someone is an app whore and installs every app they ever see and never removes any, I can't see the Droid's available memory being an issue.

That said, my wife and I played w/the Incredible at the VZW store today, and it is indeed a sexy beast. :)
