Moto Maker Friendly Case?

I bought the Incase Snap Case direct from Motorola, since it was half off, as part of my phone purchase. It is a hard case and completely clear, so you can see the backs and sides, with cutouts for the buttons. The case also protrudes a little on the sides so that it helps protect the screen if it is laid screen down. The case fits tightly, so the Moto X is unlikely to come out of the case if dropped. While I don't find it overly slippery, it is a hard case and so doesn't provide the grip a rubber case would.

Unfortunately, I love the feel of my Moto X enough that I haven't even wanted it in a case; so I can't say how well the case holds up or how badly it scratches.

I've been somewhat interested in this two piece case from Amazon, for the added protection. If I understand correctly, it is a frosted bumper and a clear hard back. So the bumper is not quite clear and, worse, the buttons are apparently painted silver. The clear hard case fits over the bumper, so you can clearly see the back of the phone, and the bumper gives you a solid grip.

I'm a little confused... Did you scratch the screen or crack the screen? If scratched then no case is going to save it unless it adds screen protection like an Otterbox Defender, Lifeproof, etc. If you're worried about scratches the a replaceable screen protector is what you are after. Steinheil and Zagg are a couple I've used in the past.
The screen had a very deep Crack down the middle after I left it with my car keys inside my gym bag. I was really mad since the phone has gorilla glass.

You're right a snap on case won't help against scratches. I'm also looking into different screen protectors.. Do you think tempered glass screen protectors are overrated?

Ok, you're original post says "scratched" not cracked. Gorilla glass is more resistant to scratches, but it is not scratch proof or impact resistant. I

More than likely your keys or something else got pushed against the screen to make it crack. The only way to protect from that type of damage would be to have some sort of hard cover over the screen or case you put the phone into before putting it in the gym bag. A case that covers the corners would help from drops, but not straight on impacts to the screen.

Something like this would be best for what happened to yours: http://www.amazon.com/Pelican-Crush...9147&sr=8-10&keywords=cell+phone+pelican+case

I don't have any experience with the tempered glass screen protectors. They might help with an impact directly to the screen and absorb some of the enough of the energy to keep the screen from cracking, but I can't say for sure.
