Its Waterproof (Not Just Resistant)

Anyone recover a device after water accident. My daughter did a toilet drop. After letting it sit for 2 days it will not power on and charge battery says "?" If we try to boot up it will instantly shutdown. I opened up the back and did not see any water inside, I plan on letting it dry out a few more days, possibly in some damp rid to see if it will charge.

This was a 10 toilet second drop. Guess water resistance is subject to conditions.

Sorry to hear that. Well, from the YouTube tests I was hopeful the Moto X could survive a toilet drop easily. But from your real life experience I guess its not safe from water mishaps.

I wouldn't make too many conclusions from a single phone. It is possible the water resistant coating on that particular phone had a bubble that formed, causing a small area not to be covered. It is also possible that the coating was damaged in some way. It is even possible the drop damaged the phone.

I'm pretty sure that the water resistance is meant to protect the phone from being in your pocket during a heavy rain storm, or from perspiration while you exercise, or condensation when you go outside when it's cold, and not from being submerged.

While I believe you are correct, Motorola has seemingly done a good job of protecting the phones. There are numerous tests on YouTube of Moto X, and even more of Moto G, where phones are completely submerged in water and continue working while submerged.

The amazing Moto X phone. Wife washed mine. Not once, but twice in a pair of my jeans. After 3 days of rice treatment, and the old freezer trick twice, I can say it's running like new. In fact I'm typing on it right now. I was simply amazed at the resiliency of this phone. I thought for sure I was looking at a replacement. Now, however, I'm a firm believer in the mighty Moto X.

My 2013 Moto X fell from my shoulder (pinched up to my ear while talking) into a sink with the water running last month, and naturally slid directly under the running water. It was only there for a few seconds, but I was thrilled to have it continue working without a hitch.

My Moto X is in Seidio Dilex case, so I'm not surprised it survived the drop (it's fallen twice as far onto concrete), but I was very happy with its water resistance.
