If you go to Menu> Settings> Applications> Development
there are 3 checkable selections.

USB debugging > I think this will be useful in making any mini USB cord mount to the Eris. I have tried 4 different mini USB cords and all mount
to the Eris. Previously only the OEM cord that came with it would. (on mine)

Stay Awake > This keeps the Eris awake while charging. Useful with a dock, or if you wanted to use the desk clock.

Allow Mock Locations > I believe this is why alot of people show that they are in a different location than they actually are. Keep unchecked and you should always show your correct location. I checked the box and it showed I was in India. Unchecked and it showed I was in my current location.

Hope this helps somebody. This might be old news, (never saw it posted) and I hope it works for everyone.

Although I may be wrong, I sometimes I am, it might be something for those conpiracy theorists who think the government is tracking them daily. Lol. Not really sure.

Or if you really don't want to be where you are. Just throw on mock locations and you can escape to a faraway country. Though I'm not sure a call center in India would be a pleasant getaway for me. :)

It depends on where in India. There are some fabulous beaches on the west coast (only been to Goa) with a much higher standard of living than 90% of the cities in the country.

Indiana is ok in places, too. :D

Turning on "USB Debugging" registers another virtual device address on the same cable which allows a separate device driver on the host PC to communicate with the adbd (Android Device Bridge Daemon). This technique allows multiple device drivers to operate simultaneously over a single cable to perform different functions, for instance in the same way that a USB printer with a media card reader behaves. In this case, it provides a communications endpoint for the Android SDK toolkit, which is completely separate from (for instance) the mass storage driver used for mounting the SD card from the PC. It has nothing to do with cable compatibility at all.

My phone (well, more specifically, the HTC weather app) thinks I am in Velika Gorica
(Croatia) right now; I have GPS turned on, and it is getting fixes that are good to 26 feet (West Coast US). I do not have "mock locations" turned on.
