Do they have a section here on the forums for "Absolutely Insane"?
I know that this is off-topic, but since there are quite a few iPad fans that frequent this board because they love them some Droid just as much,
I had to post this video for their (and your) viewing pleasure.

Watch, and be amazed...

(no idea why it posts twice)

Nonono, you are missing the point. This is absolutely genius! It must be backed by the shadowy but powerful NSC (which claims to be the National Safety Council, but is really the Natural Selection Committee.) This is a bold move to encourage autodarwination. Obviously, the NSC has decided that they can bleach out the genepool with some strategically placed iPads...

As always I'm mostly awed and a tiny bit frightened by the lengths the NSC will go to in their drive to cull the slow and unwary...

I wonder how long until someone gets in a fender bender and the air bag gives them what will be termed "ipad face" - an injury that forcefully imbeds bits of broken plastic and toxic chemicals from the screen into their face.

Also note that if you have an ipad you obviously don't need to look at your speedometer.

Fanboy here (and Droid-lover)... even I have to agree with this. Sometimes the obvious needs to be stated.

As a firefighter I've been very vocal in the past against those who text and drive. This is, by far, the most egregious offense of recklessness outside the parameters of driving while impaired. To even present this as acceptable is disgusts me. I don't care what business you are in, or how important your emails are, this will directly result in the loss of life and that is always unacceptable.

It seems obvious to me you didn't watch the video at all.

The problem as I see it is not the safety of the driver reading the iPad. If you install one of those in your own vehicle you have decided that you WILL be involved in a car crash that is your fault. Only a matter of time. My concern is for those in other vehicles who will also be unintentionally involved in the personal gene pool cleansing of the iPad driver.

I'm betting that the rate of rearend fender-benders will skyrocket as well.

That being said, does the company offer a mount for the Droid? (insert sarcastic laugh here):D

As I have said on many car fourms:

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HANG UP AND DRIVE.

I used to work in auto insurance and was disgusted by the lack of respect people had for the giant metal killing machines they were driving around in.

People who were quite blatantly not paying attention and rear ended someone still thought it wasn't their fault because they "didn't see them" or "they slammed on their brakes for no reason" (other than the stopped car/red light/pedestrian in front of them).

On more than one occasion I took a claim from a person who just rear ended the shit out of like 3 other people and had minimum coverages. I didn't say anything at the time because it wasn't my job but I'm sure they put people in the hospital and ruined their own lives because they'd be paying for the damage and injuries for years to come.

That is why I said I was a little afraid...The NSC's quest to weed can often be seen as using a broad spectrum herbicide.

And for the more despairing of those reading this thread, I suppose I should point out that this, is, in fact, a joke. If you go to the website, there's a "endorsement" from Stanley Milgram (otherwise known as the scientist who did the "obedience to authority" experiment where people shocked their peers just 'cause they were told to do so.) The website is hilarious, as they talk about the patents under which it's protected (click on the link, funny, I promise.) You'll also notice that they claim to be unable to meet the demand and are thus not shipping.

The patent they link to for their product is something akin to duct tape lol. My verdict is this has to be a joke. This guy is a professor of psychology so this is probably some sort of experiment to see either A) How angry he can make people or B) How many people are stupid enough to actually want to buy this product.

I will however say that it would not shock me one bit if someone tried to market a product like this legitimately and if people actually tried to buy it.

Love the quote.. "You really probably shouldn't be reading on a turn anyways"

Almost spit my coffee across the room.

LOL, yeah, and good to know that if the car goes into a roll, you probably won't be able to continue reading due to the sensitivity of the iPad's accelerometer. If you land upside down, the screen will inconveniently keep the image right-side-up. This shows an inexcuseable lack of field testing on Apple's part.

While I haven't watched the video yet (unable to at work), maybe this isn't all that far fetched...worse ideas have hit the market.
