Sprint HTC Evo 4G Information for Evoaddicts

I don't know about others, but I have become addicted to checking the forum for information about the EVO 4G. Now that 2 threads have been locked I am hopeful that we can manage to maintain a thread which is specifically for individuals who want to talk about ALL the different possibilities related to the upcomming EVO 4G

I have both the Motorola Droid and the HTC Droid Incredible. There is a significant difference in the Pinch to Zoom. On the Motorola in Google Maps you can pinch to zoom and ALSO rotate the map. On the HTC Incredible the map is not rotatable while pinching to zoom. Does anyone know how it will work on the HTC EVO 4G?

Respectfully, why not just write a new thread per each topic?

Just my opinion, but I think these superthreads aren't really working out well for either the moderators or the readers / posters. Too much stuff in one place.

What transpired yesterday that caused the lockdown was reminiscent of the crap that goes on at crackberry.com. You wanna talk about a dysfunctional forum, sheesh. I left there when I learned about the EVO and couldn't take the infantile fighting going on over there. I just lurk there for now on since i'm no longer getting the new berry and couldn't care much less about it anymore.

I agree 100%, a month or two ago a super thread was an ok idea because the community was so small. Now that the EVO has gained popularity I think we should ditch the super thread.

Doubtful. The Evo would probably be similar to the Inc.

First post might as well be here...been lurking for a while, and I am a regular at ppcgeeks.

Anyways fact from fiction. There has been so many different speculations regarding this phone, so I would like to know what facts we have about it.
1. 512mb ram, and 1gb rom?
2. Is it coming with the touchmax screen?
3. Is it shipping with 2.1, or 2.2?
4. Any solid info on pricing? (have heard from free to $399)
5. Release date unknown, but an leaning towards supersonic's june 6-13th date
6. Has it cleared the fcc?

The second question is the one I am really interested in. The touchmax looks very slick.

3. I'm fairly certain it's shipping with 2.1, however it will very soon after receive an OTA update to 2.2. At least thats what I've been reading.

1. Right, right, and supposedly 8gb onboard storage similar to the Incredible. But who knows. Its just good for mass storage (its NOT ROM), but apps can't read from it I don't think either.
2. Touchmax? You mean the Atmel technology? I believe so, but if you mean will it be able to detect touches with gloves on or similar, I doubt it.

4. Consensus seems to be 199-249 (with 2 year contract).
5. June 6/13 still seems to be the leading date (the validity and "if it should be moved up" is hotly contested)
6. Supposedly. But if it has its been under wraps pretty well.

Are you referring to the phone or the big threads. Regardless, I can't control the similarities or differences between the phone, but the big threads can't be and shouldn't be compared. Too many variables involved. Phone, member, how its moderated or organized. Each one is different in its own right. The Incredible thread started the mega-thread format in AF. The EVO continues that but improves on it. I think its much more organized. But with each new phone that is introduced, there may be another mega thread, and that will improve as well taking notes from the EVO one.
But like its been mentioned there is a whole forum and everything doesn't have to be in one big thread.
