Size Wise - iPhone 3G vs Incredible vs EVO 4G?

For me, the iPhone 3G is the biggest I'm willing to go now for the size of a phone. How does the Incredible and EVO 4G compare in terms of size? Are they smaller, bigger, thicker?

Evo 4g is biggest, 3g iphone is second biggest, incredible is narrower and thinner than both.

If you don't want bigger than the iphone, the evo is a terrible choice - it is a MONSTER - it also has a kickstand(?) to add to the bulk.

Incredible is definitely lighter. It does feel smaller, because it is narrower, however it is longer. I like the feel better because it sticks down closer to my mouth so it actually feels more like I am talking into the device (like a regular phone).

That is hilarious. While 4G will be nice when it is in my area, it is FAR from the top on reasons why I'm leaving Verizon and going to Sprint and the HTC EVO.

I just laugh at all the Verizon homers there are on this forum. The Incredible from what I can tell is a jazzed up Eris. The EVO isn't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but when it launches it will be without peer for a bit and will be a darn nice phone for the next year.

If, and there is that "IF", Sprint coverage and service is good in your area, there is literally no reason to not go with it. Better plans, better prices, and when the EVO launches, better phone.

This is coming from a loyal and happy customer of Verizon for the last 4 years, coming from the joke that ATT/Cingular became.

size wise the evo 4g is a very wide and long phone (using HTC HD2 as a comparison)...and with a case it's even bigger. i don't think it's comfortable pocketable and definitely not the least bit discreet.

the incredible feels like the smallest of the 3 phones mentioned here.

You've contradicted yourself, unfortunately..

Sprint WiMax is not 4g.. They'd like you to think so.. In fact, it is just an enhanced 3g - probably just a battery drainer at that as it searches it's butt of for a signal.

LTE is the actual 4g and will be much faster.. Verizon and ATT are going straight to LTE (real 4g) while Sprint is taking a short cut as they are so desperate for clients.

The EVO is also large, bulky, has a kickstand?

Sorry but you are gettin scammed. I'd rather have the Incredible, the best phone on the market.

I'll switch to a real 4g phone sometime in 2011 or 2012 when 4g is actually.. well.. real.

i've seen a few people say this. is it meant to be some sort of slight? if so, it's pretty lame because the incredible (or jazzed up eris) is still one of the best and most powerful android phones on the market today.

most definitely the evo will be a nice phone. its performance will be on par with other 1ghz android phones. if the evo will be considered "king of the hill" for a short period of time, it will only be because of the 4g, bigger screen, and front facing camera. other than that, same os and same processor yields same experience.

the plans and prices are probably the biggest advantage to the sprint network. other than that i wouldn't switch networks for the evo unless i really had to have the bigger screen. 4g is kind of mitigated by the wide availability of wifi access imo.

Thanks guys. The compelling feature for the EVO 4G for me is WiMax, I almost never leave NYC so travel doesn't bother me. 4G supposed to be here around the summer.

4G is nice because it allows unlimited tethering and the HDMI output is nice for my bedroom TV.

I agree, anything that much bigger than the iphone and incredible like the evo is to big in my opinion. After looking at the pics and reading the specs of the new iphone it seems to almost identicle to the size and overall shape of the incredible.

It's not 4g LTE.. Its 3g enhanced (WiMax). No one will have the 4g until sometime in 2011. The suburbs, country side won't get it until 2012-2013

I like the Droid Eris, and for the hour I have played with the Incredible I loved it!

But the Incredible has nothing on the EVO on anything of substance other than Verizon as the carrier. And believe me you pay for it, especially when compared to Sprint.

The funny thing to me is the blind loyalty and complete lack of objectivity by so many people in these forums when it comes to "their" phone choice.

Everyone goes with what they have for some reason, the funny thing is NOBODY in here as actually held the EVO, but they are sure it is "too bulky", too large, etc.. It very well may be for them, but when you just compare the size specs it really isn't that much bigger than the Incredible or my current phone the ENV2. Yes it is bigger and with that size comes a sweet 4.3" screen for me to watch stuff.

Every person that has the Incredible or Eris, or Droid or Iphone, enjoy it, because that is what they are there for. I just laugh at the animosity and ridiculous opinions people have in here all the time. But nobody is forcing me to read these posts.

The EVO is the same size as the HD2 which is on Tmobile. Its a very large phone.

I admit, I haven't held an Evo. BUT, i've played with my neighbors HD2 quite a bit and the Evo and the HD2 are identical in size.

Compare the Evo and the Incredible and you end up with the following:

Same:
Processor
Memory
Camera

Incredible:
Superior AMOLED Screen. 3.7"
8gb built in memory + 32gb via microSD
Thinner, lighter, smaller than Evo
Wi-Max(i don't know if i count this as an advantage for a few reasons. WIMAX is power hungry, coverage is non-existant and its not true 4g like LTE. I live in one of the biggest metro markets in the country and we don't have, nor will we have WIMAX until 2011. By that time, ATT/Verizon will have rolled out true 4g LTE to NY/NJ/PA which is great for me)

EVO:
Superior size screen. 4.3" but traditional screen tech, NOT amoled
720P video recording(supposed to be coming to the Incredible and Desire via OTA update)
Front facing 1.3 mp camera

So, basically do you want something smaller and lighter or bigger and bulkier?

Personally, the HD2/Evo are too big to pocket.

The Incredible feels "just right" to me. But YMMV.

Evo is huge. I looked at the HD2 at Wal-Mart. If you want to lose weight, then definitely hold out for the Evo. It's like lifting weights while just walking around.

I think the form factor of the incredible is perfect.

hotspot, incredible has mobile broadband connect and when rooted will have wireless tether just like the droid.

HDMI out is nice, although the incredible does have tv out (although not hdmi).

the larger stock battery on the evo is offset by the extra juice the larger screen and the 4g radio will suck up. to be honest i think that phone will fare worse with battery life than the incredible. take a look at the hd2 users battery life for comparison, and that phone doesn't even have 4g.

the 720p recording is an advantage.
