Help Email keeps syncing even when set to manual

I've set all of my email accounts to "manual sync" (and shut off "peak hours" as well) so that they will only sync when I actually go into my email and refresh. When I finish looking at my email, I shut down the application so that it's no longer running. And yet somehow my email STILL updates automatically now and then, for no reason. It drives me insane. Did I miss something in the settings or is this a known issue?

You are not alone. My phone also syncs email every night at 10:25. No idea why. Peak time is set to be from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Off peak is set to manual sync only.

Tonight I had it plugged in and charging and sitting on the shelf. I.e. screen was off and it was inactive. At 10:25 it buzzed indicating new mail. The last new mail was at 10:21. The phone had been sitting on the shelf since 10:00. It DEFINITELY synced on its own even though it was off peak hours. Very annoying.
Running android version 4.4.2. I see that there is an update available now. I'll try that and see what happens.

If it's a HTC one, why are you posting on. Galaxy S4 forums? You will find a better helping response on the HTC one forums.

Set that aside, try this.....

Go to your app manager and clear out the cache and clear out data. Then also un install any updates.

Then go to the play store and download the application for the email provider your using. Example.... For Gmail go get the Google gmail app... For yahoo go get the yahoo email app.... And so on.

Once you have the correct email application.... Only use that email application and do not ever open the stock one.

Well, I do have a Galaxy S4 and I have the exact same problem that drives me up the wall because I'm getting flippin's work emails on the weekend!

Problem with that is: all the email accounts I need to connect to are on various providers - and gmail, who has the best email app as far as I could see, is the one account I do not care about at all. The other providers are Outlook (whose app is horrendous), Shaw (who doesn't even have an app), and a private host... Besides, having 5 different email apps kinda defies the purpose... So I NEED a central app where I can access all my emails in one spot!
