Does anyone else have an issue doing this? I received an error stating "got an error stating this application requires network access. Enable mobile network or wi-fi to download data." My mobile network was on at the time as I was on a call. Any settings I should be looking at? I tried both the stock browser and skyfire & had the issue with both.

Is it possible to use wifi to surf when making a call?

Yes, absolutely you can use wifi to surf while on a call.

To the OP, sadly, its a current limitation of CDMA that you can not do simultaneous voice and data.

The good news? LTE(Verizon's 4g network) will allow simultaneous voice and data.

More good news? Doing google maps navigation in the car and get a call? Android caches the whole route so you can keep right on driving with directions while on the call.

Good to know.

LTE is going to be tiered, could be pretty expensive, and capped by tier. Hopefully they don't pull a fast one on us.

But I have about 2 years to think about it - btw I don't think I'd ever use data while on the phone if I could.

I used data while on a call a couple times while on AT&T. Stuff like looking up movie times or places to eat while co-ordinating with friends.

That said, i'm glad to be rid of AT&T and their incredibly spotty coverage and painful dropped calls and data disconnects.

Verizon coverage FTW
