Root How can I root my MT3G w/out a Gold Card!?!

I am trying to root my MT3G to install the Cyanogen rom for Android 2.1 (I think it's like 5.0.1). I have gone through the process here, but get the error "Main Version Is Older". I am not in a position to do the Gold Card work around (lack of time, resources, only one card, etc), but REALLY want to install this. I have a 4gb SanDisk Micro-SD, and in an attempt to change a variable, I tried my bosses 8gb, however, it is also a SanDisk (incidentally, it was from one of our old BB's, so I got him to trade me the 8gb for my 4gb! :woot: ), same issue.

Is there any way for me to root and be able to install this ROM WITHOUT doing the gold card?!?

Any help with me MUCH appreciated, especially if it's quick! lol

i believe you have to downgrade your os to 1.5, goto the theunlockr.com and check out all the vids.

I did watch that, but he is already rooted and had 2.1 installed.

I can't do recovery. The recovery copy app won't do the recovery because it isn't rooted, and I can't root because I need a gold card. I'm trying to get around needing the gold card...

YEP.. No choice. Gold card is the only way this will work...

Just use the sd card you have now for a gold card, then format it as your everyday sd card when you're done.

I don't see the whole point in having a separate gold card after you root.
