If you are running the 1.5 software and can't decide to update to leak or not, let me give you my two cents. I was running 1.5 for 2 months debating whether or not to upgrade, after not checking the forums for a month i went and checked and v3 leak came out that day, sooo, i figured it was meant to be... wrong. First off after a week of reading worthless post after post about rambling garbage trying to fix bugs, and getting fed up with not being able to use my phone as an actual phone any longer, I decided to call up customer service and attempt to get a refurbished phone sent. well it worked:D t-minus two days before root. I know most people could care less about this thread, but I hope to help people who are stuck between waiting or updating to leak, I suggest wait or get all the details on root.
HTC offered to have me send my phone to them and have it reflashed back to 1.5 as well... she also asked the Verizon customer service man I was speaking with if, Verizon had started sending out the update yet.. So for all those who are being negative nannies and saying that the eris will never officially run 2.1, :thinking:get a clue:eek::)

Verizon is sending me the phone.. as for flashing back, That is what I don't understand,, at least it gives hope for that kid who said his cousin could do it(Maybe).. It was relatively very easy for me to get a refurb. sent, they asked alot of questions just make sure you tell them it was a notification you recieved, not a TXt, and the software was updated over the air, not through the computer. took no longer than ten minutes and bang new phone coming I never thought I'd be so happy to be back on 1.5...

So who is sending you a refurbished phone? VZW or HTC? If HTC can flash it back to 1.5 why don't they just release it and let everyone who jumped the gun with the leaks get back to 1.5? I have so many questions now.

Absolutely! Who do I talk to at HTC to get them to flash it back? Not that I don't like 2.1 (Ghods, I do!), but I'd like to root ... if only for wireless hotspot capability!

Don't get me wrong ... I'm good with waiting. But if there's a way to dodge that wait, I'd love to be there!

I'm not sure who to talk to at HTC, when I was explaining to Verizon that I recieved a notification invite for being a beta tester, the Verizon rep told me he had to contact HTC, and then she(HTC rep) grilled me on a few questions, and then said I could have them(HTC) re-flash it or have they (Verizon) send me a replacement.

Maybe you should PM me, but what are you talking about with the notification instead of a txt? Like VZW released the update too soon? I can do that. Maybe I'll try that. I e-mailed (don't tell anyone else i did that) HTC about flashing back to 1.5 and will update when I hear anything about that. Will you update this when you get your refurb? I'd like to know whats on it for an OS.

I just wanna say I love all these people making up BS that there phone is unusable after updating the leak as a reason to get a new phone just so they can root it cause they were impatient.

there are possibilities of bad flashes. its like bricking your comp when flashing bios - if you screw up, yer fubar'd. dont jump the gun and get on people. i flashed v1 and wish i'd seen the root posts so i coulda done that and gone back and forth at will. i'm happy with v1, and v2, and now v3, but...still. options are good.

and I just wanna say I could give a shit less what you love.

"thanks for recounting your experience but many of the more knowledgeable posters on here have been recommending for weeks not downloading the 2.1 v1/2/3 leaks, to root first instead so that you can roll back to 1.5. "

and you, I don't claim to be a "Knowledgeable poster" as you can see I've only posted 8 times. This was for people who can't make up their mind and don't feel like wasteing their lives on here reading Bullshit.

I love how I can't even throw up a thread trying to help people out with my experience and here comes the punks having to up their post count, and tell us about what they love about what people do.. Mind you own shit, and if you don't like it keep it to yourself, or don't read what I have to say.

2.1 v3 leak is very stable and works great. I've been riding with v1, v2 and now v3 of 2.1 leak. 2 was definitely crappy. But v3 I can honestly say is very stable and has only minor bugs. It means we are close to the official release.

As for the original post, yes, 1.5 users just wait it out.... you've waited this long another few weeks wont kill you. Thats what I would do.

I did say thanks :) Your original post was pretty much incomprehensible to start with so, you are right, I probably shouldn't have wasted my time trying to read the bullshit. I do suggest you get that stick removed from your ass however.
