Hey all,

So I dumped about 200 mp3 files unto the INC in the same folder as the ones that came with the device.

Problem: The cover art that I have associated to each file (through tagging) REFUSES to show up. Maybe 1 out of ever 10 or 15 songs has the right cover art, while all the rest have the EXACT SAME COVER ART. When I play the same files on the computer or an older ipod i have, the correct art shows up.

Any ideas? Should I just forgo the HTC / Android music player and go with something from the market?

Any help is appreciated.

if u use the drag and drop method thru the phones disk drive thru usb the album art will take a a minute or 2 to load. At first i used WMP to sync but no album art. So I tried dragging the albums into the MP3 folder on my 8gb mem card, at first no art showed up but slowly they started to load. Now after a few day all art is there. no app needed, nothing at all, just patience.

This is so pathetic, All my albums have their art encoded into the file. Some Albums show up with the art file other don't. I've tried encoding the art again on those that didn't show up and nothing. I'm so pissed, it really bugs the shit out of me. I have yet to order my sd card but I should not have to pay for a damn album art grabber app when my damn files already have it.

i read something about the music has to be like this:

1. in a folder named Music or MP3
2. each artist will need to be in it's own separate folder within the Music or MP3 folder (of course)
3. for artists that you have multiple albums for, each need to be in their own separate folder within each artist

i don't have mine exactly like this, and only about a third of my album art shows up. i haven't bothered to try and change the layout because i honestly don't care THAT much. it would be nice to have all my album art, but i don't feel like messing around with it.

So what is the issue? I have been tediously working on my MP3 collection to get everything tagged and the right artwork. This may be overkill but its the only way i am sure to get everything working on the majority of devices out there:

Folder structure:
Music/Letter (#, A-Z)/Artist/Album/folder.jpg

folder.jpg is my album art and all are 500x500 and are also embedded in the music.

How is the Incredible reading artwork?

BTW... Screw iTunes which tries to create its own proprietary album art database.

The MP3 folder seems to be the magic part. I had it in a music folder and very little art was showing after a week. I resorted my music into /mp3/artist/album folders on the root of the SD card, and poof I started getting the artwork almost instantly. kinda overly picky IMHO. bad part is that I always store my music like this, but oddly I didn't on my phone...

QFT. This solved my problem with album art not showing up entirely. As soon as I moved/synced my music to the mp3 folder I created on the SD card, they all popped in.

Weird, but FTW!

I had the right mp3 folder structure on the internal card and album art in AlbumArt.jpg and none of them showed up. I moved one of the folders to the SD card and it showed right up. So it seems that the music player only looks for art on the SD card. I tried to just have the folder structure and the art on the SD card and the mp3 files on the internal memory, but that didn't work.

I guess if we want art we have to store all music on the SD card. Which makes the internal memory pretty useless until we get an update that allows apps (and native programs too apparently) to fully use the internal memory. Oops, looks like someone forgot to set this up right.

Is there a cache for these album covers? I've tried everything in this thread and have had limited success with each suggestion. Sometimes it has found the artwork with AlbumArt.jpg, sometimes with folder.jpg sometimes with the root folder as music, sometimes with mp3. i haven't found any consistency with its behavior. It seems that if I add artwork and THEN rename the folder from music to mp3 or vice versa, the artwork I added will show after it rescans the whole SD card with the new root folder. That's why I'm thinking it is caching these image files somewhere. Tried deleting the albumthumbs folder but that didnt do anything. Any other ideas?

*EDIT*
It seems like there is a database entry for each folder, so if I have a folder with AlbumArt.jpg and rename it to something that hasn't been used before it works fine, but if that folder previously had not had an image it won't work. That leads me to believe there is some DB that is associating folder names with cover artwork. Can't seem to find this DB though.

This actually did work for me. I had one mp3 cover that wouldn't show no matter what I did. This actually worked!!! Thanks
