Does anyone who has been with Sprint a longish time remember those "Samsung Instinct versus iPhone 3G" videos that Sprint put out? It showed the Instinct side by side with an iPhone performing tasks: GPS, spoken navigation, SMS, MMS, etc. Each time, the Instinct did it better.

Here is a crude sample:

YouTube - Samsung Instinct vs. Apple Iphone

I think it would be great if Sprint did the same thing, but updated the phones: HTC EVO 4G vs Apple iPhone 3GS / 4G / HD.

Agreed?

I would stare away from those type of ads right now at least Sprint directly doing it and let sites like phone dog and cnet do their comparisons and such. I would much rather them focus on 4g performance more than anything. Why only focus on the Iphone, there still is the incredible that has no 4g, 4.3 inch screen, 720p recording, front facing cam.

I say if your going to go that route, crush all the competition with one stone.

On top of that, who knows what the new Iphone will do.

All valid points, and especially about other phones. I still think that showing actual usage and comparing it to competitors' products is the best marketing strategy -- not fancy moving spinning phones with rock music.

Ha! Nevermind the app store,
I do not think you can, you need to confront the app store. Show it for what it is. The current apple app store is over 100,000. Most of it is just sad. Some really cool stuff. This is apple claim to fame, you need to address it. But smartly. I would. List the top 10,000 apps in the apples store, and show they are available in androids. Also push the fact that att has dropped calls.

I disagree.

People have faith in their phones. They love their phones.

Telling someone that their wife sucks is a great way to get hit. Same with this. In my world, the best way to pick a fight is to start talking smack about tech.

By attacking apple you only create hate between you and them.

lol @ the instinct and lol @ any phone before the Palm Pre (G1 honorable mention) to ever be compared to the iPhone. The iPhone was waaay ahead of all other phones between 6/07 and 6/09. Now though, we finally have multiple phones that are as good and cool as the iPhone and it's exciting to be a consumer this summer.
