Help Exchange Activesync Company Directory

I searched the Activesync threads and haven't found this issue, hopefully someone can help me out. I have Activesync working fine, able to receive and send emails, have all of my contacts and calendar items. Works flawlessly, other than the Company Directory. When I search for someone in the Global Address List using the Online Directories and then Company Directory I get the person, their email, Company and Title but no phone numbers. I have used a couple of iPhones and they return all the info and accessing the OMA page and searching returns all the info. Any thoughts? I looked at the logs on the OMA sever (also our OWA server) and show no errors in the Event viewer or the IIS logs and VZW was completely useless.

EAS is working fine for me with email and folders. i'm not able to get any results when searching the company directory though. the searching prompt pops up for a split second and then goes away.

about to check the logs on the server now to see if it gives any insight...

Same here, I actually get results from a directory search, just not any numbers. Very strange. There are no errors in either the app logs or the IIS logs that I can see.

@Hawks64 Likewise, I also get partial results from the GAL lookup. Otherwise Active sync is working great. I also manage our exchange environment and my logs are clean too. iPhone users here do have the functionality, which leads me to believe it's an active sync issue local to the handset. The only other peculiarity is the “out of office” throwing an error on the handset.

partially solved my issue. looks like our owa address was webmail.mycompany.com, but i was using mail.mycompany.com. removed the exchange account then added it back with the webmail as my server address instead. now i can search the company directory and get results from our GAL. not sure if removing and re-adding the account is what fixed it or if changing the server address did it. either way, one problem solved.

still not able to adjust out of office setting. :|

The company directory is still not working in Android 2.2 at least on my EVO 4G. But the good news is that you dont need it to work. There is a better way. I kept thinking that Google was supposed to be the king of searching, so I could not accept the fact that you cannot atleast search by company name. After doing some digging I found out a way to find contacts by company name.

Press the "+" sign next to "Phone" on your home screen then select "Widgets" next select "Google Search" then select "People" and place the search bar on your home screen. Now you can search your contacts by name, company, number, etc. You can select the contact and see the full contact info for that individual and dial the number from there. You can also have the search pull up related email, texts, etc. when you search for the individuals name.

I don't have a "Google Search" to select.

Maybe it is called something else in your widgets. I am using an EVO 4G with Android 2.2 Update. I am fairly certain that this is available on 2.1 also. It has a blue square with a "G" in the middle of it. You can also find the widget on its own separate home screen on the stock OS if you swipe to the left about three times. You need to make adjustments to searchable items for it to be of use for finding people. Adjustments: menu>settings>search>(change searchable items to things you want "Google Search" to pull up). I disabled everything accept Calendar, Mail, Messages, and People.

....
What does this have to do with GAL lookups? I think you are misreading the question.

Well, the posters above already said this capability is crippled. I am offering a way to find your contacts by name, number, company, or email without relying on a third party app. It will pull up a list of all the people associated with one company if you start typing the company name. Then you can click on that person and see the full contact page displaying all exchange contact information. From there you can make a call or start an email.
