Had a fully charged battery by the time I went to bad last night. I know this because I was constantly checking the baseball scores through the MLB app. Then I went to bed, and next thing I knew I was already an hour late for work. My alarm didn't go off. Just to carlify, I haven't used a traditional alarm clock in about 5-6 years. Just always used the alarm on my phone because I know if the power goes out my phone still has a battery that can last through the night.

Now after this epic failure, I want a different phone. I know it's sad to say that I want a new one after a little mishap..but now the phone seems unreliable to me. Going to look into getting the Incredible.

Unless the phone was somehow not powered on when the alarm was supposed to go off I predict this is probably user error. Either the alarm volume was too low/off, or the time was incorrect (pm instead of am or something).

Is this an alarm you use regularly? If it was then maybe it wasn't user error. That's pretty unfortunate if there was a force close or something. Still sounds fishy.

I'm about 99% sure it wasn't user error. I had the phone on about an hour before I went to bed checking scores. The alarm is ALWAYS on, has been since I got the phone to go off throughout the week. I even check it every night to make sure I can see the little alarm icon in the menu bar.

When I woke up this morning the phone wasn't even on. I'm not know for sleep walking or anything, so unless I decided to turn the phone off in my sleep, something went wrong either hardware or software related.

Hmm.. yeah that's not right, obviously. What version of Android do you have? Rooted? I wonder if it has anything to do with that new OTA.

It's rooted running CyanogenMod 5.0.6.2 and overclocked to 800Mhz. I don't think the ROM would have anything to do with it shutting off because I haven't installed any new applications in a while. It also had been freshly rebooted about 2 hours before I went to bed.

Yeah there's bits of information here and there about an OTA update that was pushed over the past few days that's possibly interfering with rooted phones.

I honestly don't know much about it because I don't think it's affected me. It just seems like a weird coincidence.

I don't get it just because your an hour or so late to work, then whole universal spectrum is going to collapse. Dump the phone, get another.

My guess is maybe you were surfing a little more then you thought, and the battery was lower then normal. How about pluging in to the charger at night, then the battery doesnt run out..

Sure doesnt seem like an epic failure, an epic failure would cause damage.

Here's a tip - you work to live, you do not live to work.

If getting up on time is that important then I would make sure there is some redundancy to the alarm. Hmmmm Multiple alarms..... Train yourself to wake up on time with out an alarm...

This happened to me on my first droid, Set the alarm... didn't go off, not sure why deleted the alarm and started it a new one and it was okay

Sorry jd99, but I already told you that I know the battery was completely full, and no I wasn't running a lot of apps. The phone had just been re-booted about 2 hours before I went to bed, and I was checking baseball scores on the MLB app.

I'm not sure what kind of job you have, but if I show up an hour late to work, they don't just wave it off like it's no big deal. I don't set multiple alarm clocks either because I've never been late for work and been using my phone as an alarm for 5-6 years. Hardware can fail from time to time. I know that it wasn't a low battery because when I turned the phone on this morning, it was completely full.

It seems to me that you think I'm dissing the Droid, which I'm not. I have loved this phone from the moment I got it. I just see this hardware failure as a decent reason to start looking into switching phones this June when my contract is up.

Oh I didn't know your contract was up. Yeah, why not get a new phone then. HTC EVO!!! haha.

Anyways, your boss must suck especially if you have never been late for work. Don't change your phone...change your job. JK.
