Notification LED Light Settings

Is there any way to modify how long the LED light will flash when you have an unread message or email? I found several programs in the market but they only seemed concerned with "changing" the color of the light (which does not work) and how fast the light will flash. But none of them had a setting to make the LED flash for say 4 hours after I receive a message unless I check it.

I am also running 2.1 v3

so there's really no way as of now to modify how long the LED will flash? Like for example: Blackberry's, their LED will flash until you look at the notification and I was wondering if the eris can do that.

It should blink until you clear the notification/read the message. My Eris does, at least, it will blink the LED if I have a new text message or flash the trackball if I have a new email. If yours doesn't, there could be something wrong with it? I'm not sure. How long exactly does it blink before you notice it stops? Have you tried it?

I use the stock mail app and chompSMS for my text messages.

I haven't exactly timed it but it seems that after maybe 5 minutes the LED will stop and then after 10 the trackball will stop flashing. And I am using handcent for sms.

The LED stops flashing after 5 minutes of inactivity. I believe this is just a poor attempt to save battery life by the designers. They should at least have given us the option to leave it flashing if we wanted.

I believe the trackball stops after 5 minutes as well. Not sure though, it could be 10.

Whatever it is, it's unacceptable. I have yet to find an app out there that will force them to continue blinking. Instead, I use recurring audible alerts for everything. I use "Missed Call", "Gmail Notifier", and "Handcent" to accomplish this.

Really sucks that I need 3 apps just to make sure I don't miss something important.

It seems that since I did the OTA update, my LED notifications no longer work. It lights up for charging/charged/low battery, but not for missed call, SMS or voicemail.

I do have it selected under menu>settings>sound & display>Notification flash

Anyone else have this issue?

Did you perform a factory reset after upgrading to 2.1ota ? If not, I highly recommend it, as do many others:

My led doesnt flash either. It never has worked. I thought only the trackball flashed for notifications. I just went and checked my settings and the led boxes are checked but the light dont flash or anything. I downloaded sms popup a long time ago just for that very reason, because i wanted the led to blink and not just the trackball.

I will be absolutely sure to do that when my replacement phone shows up tomorrow. I wound up cracking my screen and ordered a certified pre-owned replacement, since I didn't have the insurance. This is my punishment for putting off calling about the silent phone issue after the update, I guess. Grrr.
