Returning Incredible Tomorrow :(

I have gotta say the time that I have spent with the phone and on the VW network has been a blast but today was the last day that I decided to deal with the phone glitches and having a mind of its own. The issue that I have been having multiple times is that I keep on shutting off the WiFi but about after 3 minutes of doing so it turns itself back on which is extremely annoying and a wast of battery. The service tech wanted to do a reset of the phone system which would have erased the phone and leaving me to have to re-install all the apps and arrange everything back to normal and I am sorry coming from the iPhone I am not going to be doing that every time I have an issue with the phone. Also if I am having these issues now that means I am going to have them down the road and at that point i'll be stuck to the contract which right now I am not since I am a new customer testing the network for 30 days (less than 30 now). I have also had other issues but have no been recurring as of yet.

I have gotta say this was defiantly a very good experience and beside the glitches the phone is great but does not compare to the iPhone Apps nor reliability and back up of information (apps, icons, etc.).

Dude I'm returning mine be careful around here though they locked my thread on this earlier. These people don't like to hear anything anti incredible. if you like the iPhone wait for the new one. Android is nice but you right iPhone has way many better apps. But I also noticed on my iPhone I don't use all the cool apps. For me its social network I use my phone for. But Android Facebook apps isn't as good as iPhone either no chat

The Incredible isn't for everybody, nor is the iPhone or a Blackberry, everyone has their own individual needs and there isn't a single "one size fits all" device. Best of luck to you, too bad it didn't work out for you, I'm really happy with mine. Take care.

Ya I am not sure what went wrong with mine but hey what are you going to do... The Incredible is a great phone just tunes out that I had issues with it :( I was looking forward to sticking with VW to.

Gonna take awhile to work out a few glitches, happens with every new release phone, particularly one that is as intensive as the DI. Cutting edge leaders are the ones that have to clear the minefield for others to follow.
Anyone who's looking for instant stability and perfection may as well cash in the chips. One day in the not terribly distant future, we'll all look back at these little pitfalls and have a good laugh together. "Remember when"...

If you didn't like the phone itself or Verizon, then I could understand going back to an iPhone (well, maybe not simply because I loathe AT&T). If, however, it's merely that your phone's issues are the result of it being defective (or dare I say user error?), then suck it up and have them give you a new phone that you spend 2 hours re-customizing. Plus, as has been mentioned, you can back up most of your important things and get them back on the new phone quickly.

Trust me, if you bring the phone in and can replicate the problem(s) for the service tech and tell them it's a new phone or you go back to AT&T, you will get a new phone.

Either way, good luck with your decision.

True I think that I am going to give it another shot but I want a new phone and not a system reset or w.e. they were going to do. The WiFi did duplicate for the tech right before his eyes so he knows that issue. I just need to get that AppBrain thing working. For some reason it wont advance past the login screen on the phone when I go to click to sign in.

I have never used it, so I can't help you there.

I do agree with getting a new phone. My fiance has the Eris. She was having random shut downs and they insisted at the store they must do a hard reset first. They did, and it changed nothing. They were happy to hand her a new phone the next time -- and no more issues.

And FWIW, there is always the Moto Droid as an option if you can stand the keyboard.

O ok lol I sent you a PM about it so disregard, lol.

Ya my gf has the Eris to but she continually is having issues with hers not like I am more with becoming slow and that is even after new replacements.

Some people like the moto droid but I am not a big fan of slide out keyboards to be honest with you. The Incredible is the best HTC Phone out there minus the HD2.

I hardly use Facebook, but I am certain there are apps on Android that allow you to Facebook chat. I'm surprised anyone actually uses that anyway... Plus there is another Facebook app you can download with more features than the stock version.

And your thread got closed because you were merely posting to instigate and succeeded. Do you really think anyone cares if some random kid returns his Incredible? Highly unlikely.

OP here is actually taking advice to see if he can resolve his issues. If so, great. If not, life will be tough, but it will go on...

Yes, in comparison to the Droid and Incredible, the Eris is slow. That said, other than a few Android glitches (and no OS is free of issues, iPhone OS included), it does work great.

If I get a chance later, I'll check out the app backup utility to see if I can get it to work myself.

EDIT: I could never go to the HD2 because it's WinMo, and I am not a fan. That said, if you like that phone, perhaps the EVO 4G is for you. I just couldn't leave Verizon for Sprint. Plus, any bigger of a phone, and holding it for long conversations would get uncomfortable. Even the 3.7" screen can get annoying after a while.

I agree with you 100% but there are some glitches people can live with and some that people can't as well.

Alright that would be great cause I want to try to get this resolved asap of course I appreciate you attempting to try.

Ya I am with you on that I stay away from anything windows idc how good it is, lol. But the phone is pretty nice itself w/o windows mobile it would be better ;)

My wife is on her 3rd iphone. First one stolen from her car right after it stopped recognizing our home wifi. Never had a chance to replace it under warranty. 2nd one lasted three months before it also stopped recognizing our home wifi. her 3rd one now has gone a year and no problems. Moral of the story is everybody makes batches of lemon products

Tell me about it, I have been through 12 iPhone 3g/3gs because of case cracking (known issue with the white ones). I know all to well about bad batches, lol.

Now that I think about it if I was even to go to the VW store and tell them to replace the phone if all of the other stores are out of stock then the VW store prob wont have anything to replace it with there, lol.

Getting an incredible replacement in NYC is next to impossible. picture walking into a store and explaining the problems your having while they have either none, or very limited stock. you have no chance in getting one if they happen to have only a handful in stock. However, they would ship you one out from VZW directly. which I'll be getting tomorrow. Now if this one is not on the money, and still has the voice quality issues, signal strength issues, bye bye and back to my 3Gs until either the 4th Gen iPhone drops or go out on a limb and try out the EVO.

Now if the EVO drops and has the same sort of signal, 3G, etc, problems that both the Nexus and the Incredible are having, I would assume its safe to say HTC has a serious problem on its hands. And the only reason I am saying this is because even to this day, Google and HTC Refuse to admit they have a 3G signal problem with the Nexus, its like they gave up on it. And if history repeats itself here with the Incredible, let's just say the masses won't react well, and many people will start looking elsewhere. Shame cause they build some beautiful devices.

you have to realize that these phones are as dynamic as computers. You can install all kinds of apps on it that could affect functions of the phones and then we demand that verizon support them. What is the one way they can be sure it is a hardware issue and not software? Wipe the phone.

Just do it. you will start over when you get a different phone anyway. Then you can determine if it is a hardware issue or software. Noone else seems to be having this issue, it is obviously something with your handset.

Do it... if it works great.... if not, swap it. When you get your replacement, evaluate your desire to keep the phone.
