Help Multi touch keyboard?

I haven't really seen this discussed for the Incredible yet. I have tested it and they keyboard is definitely not multi touch, I have tried better keyboard and smart keyboard pro both of which lag horribly for me and only smart keyboard actually worked with multi touch. Am I missing an option or does the Incredible really not have multi touch for the stock keyboard?

I don't believe it does. This is purely a software limitation though, the Inc does contain a true multi-touch sensor unlike the Droid & N1 which fake it using software.

Why do you need multitouch? Why would you hit 2 keys at the same time? I type pretty fast using both thumbs on the stock one and haven't had any lag or problems...

I'd use Swype if speed is a concern.

What about when you want to combine a "C" and a "Z"?

its mostly hitting E and then space, I am doing it so fast that its not registering the space bar.

I too am occasionally not registering the space bar. Would love to see that fixed.

I agree, swype is awesome in portrait... however in landscape i think i type faster with my thumbs on the stock keyboard due to increased space. Its just harder to slide quickly across the keyboard in landscape. My only turn off of swype is that I loose the voice to text which I use while driving so I don't have to type.

Why do you lose voice to text? I use swype with Handcent and hit menu and the microphone button is right there. I just need to know how to get it to capitalize the first letter of a sentence? Do you say capital first, like period at the end?

If you type fast enough, it will start to matter.

Excellent question, this is definitely something I'd like to get a good answer to. Anyone wanna go beat up an iPhone with me and steal its multitouch keyboard?!

I hope there is a good keyboard replacement out there!

Of course, it looked like the droid keyboard had other features such as Keyhold down for other characters which iphone did not?

Not sure what the purpose of the multitouch is... lets you type faster I guess?

Yeah. A couple times now I've had problems with typing too fast for the keyboard.

I guess its not really speed, more like how clean you type. I've got sloppy fingers I guess. If I was coordinated enough to lift up my fingers fast enough so there were never two down at once, I guess it wouldnt be a problem.

This is literally the only thing that iPhone has right now over the Incredible IMO. I would love to see this get enabled on the stock keyboard via hack or update.

The droid has multi touch. The N1 too. The N1 just has inferior sensor hardware.

So there is no fix for this? When I type the keyboard does not register the spacebar every couple words. It's irritating having to go back and correct the mistakes. Just by writing this message my space bar did not register about 5 times. It's not keyboard but simply the fact the keyboard is not registering the spacebar when I type fast.

You sure about that? If that is the case then one more reason to root once available.

Like a few others mentioned in this thread, SpaceBar is where I have the majority of issues when I am typing fast. Sometimes it doesn't get picked up.

AFAIK the only multitouch keyboard available is "Smart Keyboard" look for it in the marketplace. It is true multitouch and has a skin to make it look like vanilla android if that's your thing.

Yep that's the only issue I am noticing too... It's only spacebar because I am hitting it at almost the same time I am hitting the letter prior. Multi touch would COMPLETE this phone for me.
