...fall 2 feet.

So there i was, exactly one week after purchasing then incredible, sitting at a kitchen table on a chair, i went to put my incredible back in my pocket while sitting, whoops slipped outta hand, and it fell exactly 2 feet (i measured with a tape measure), phone hit the ground and the screen SHATTERED. you cant feel the cracks they are under the glass, but you can see all the cracks all over the screen, which obviously led the touchscreen to be completely unresponsive, and phone is no longer incredible....

now i came from a storm and i have dropped the phone from much much higher spots many many times on various hard surfaces and the phone never once received anything more then a minor scuff.. i did notice the phone fell PERFECTLY fat on its back which coulda just been a bad angle to fall on....

any ways...

Sorry to hear that. I dodged a big bullet last night. I have the black silicone case on my Incredible with no screen protector yet. I had it on my lap while driving last night and when I got to the place where I was picking up food, I got out of the car and my Incredible went crashing to the ground because I forgot it was there.

After bouncing around on the ground a few times it ended up face down to the ground. I thought it was the end for sure. Luckily, not only did the screen not crack, it didn't even have a scratch on it. The black silicone case from Verizon definitely saved me because it is raised along all of the edges of the phone. So when my phone was face down, none of the screen was actually touching the ground. Just the frame of the case was.

Anyhow, I should be getting my screen protector today in the mail and I am putting it on immediately. And I am going to be much more careful in the future. I usually take extreme care of my electronics but I had a brain fart.

Anyways, good luck on your replacement!

Sorry to hear about the loss :(, do you have insurance on the phone? (ihope)

yea i did, it was a pain in the ass when i called for my replacement i was "picked randomly" to need to fill out some affidavit form to verify security... which they normally would have mailed me and said it could take 3-5 days to receive.. but luckily i was at a gun range and they let me use their fax so i faxed sheets back and forth to get it done quickly, should have the phone tomorrow.

That sucks! Did you have a case on it?

no case... but i bet you can guess what im gonna be buying once i get my new phone... lol

mine fell about three feet this morning. I set it on my bathroom counter and the alarm went off and it vibrated itself off the counter top. I was sick to my stomach when i saw it laying on the floor but once i picked it up there was not one scratch on it just a bunch of dust. Maybe the dust broke the fall :)

Was your insurance through VZW?

apparently not, its through Asurion, phoneclaim.com, thats the number verizon had me call.

yea im pretty sure it was just the angle my phone landed on or had a defective/weak screen, the sound the phone made when it landed perfectly flat.. just didn't sound normal or good. sounded kinda like a loud clap

That case is great, Its a must for this phone. That screen is almost 50% of the surface of the phone itself so the chances of busting it in a drop are high.

I added my phone to my homeower's policy at it only is costing me $25 a year for the full replacement cost of $529.

I did not know that this sort of thing can be covered on a homeowner's policy. Does it even cover accidental damage, in addition to loss or theft? Would any claim be subject to the deductible on the policy, which can range anywhere from $250 to $1000?

what homeowner's policy do you have?

does nationwide have this coverage?

I was wondering the same thing. I just checked with my insurance company (USAA) and cell phones are specifically excluded from coverage. They will not even cover it under a valuable personal property policy because their risk for that type of item would be very high. My only option (as explained to me by the rep) was to purchase the insurance that is offered through the carrier, ripoff or not.
