Turn it up to 11!!!

Brethren (and occasional sister...),

So, I ride the bus to work everyday. It's loud and annoying. I am finding that sounds played through my headphones are just not loud enough. I even have sound canceling headphones...and sometimes it's just not enough.

Is there anything I can do to increase the volume through my headphones. (Be aware that I am fully versed in headphones and their response levels and signal to noise ratios...it's not the headphones that are the problem...)

Maybe an equalizer program of some sort. I'll go look for that now actually...but any help would be nice.

P.s. the incredible is the best device I have ever owned.

Try earbuds. I used the same cheap headphones for years to mow my grass and listen to my iPod. When I switched to using my phone, they weren't loud enough. I switched to a set of cheap ear buds and now have no problem. I doubt a bus is louder than my lawnmower.

Take it from an OLD FELLA, I have hearing loss in my right ear and tinnitus "ringing in the ear", DON'T turn up the volume!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, I switched to earbuds and was shocked at the difference they made in sound quality and loudness. I have always had a problem differentiating between sounds. (watching tv while someone else is talking is impossible) earbuds effectively knock out the sound around you as far as im concerned.

Even if you do have to clear out the wax once in a while....TMI?

+1 on the suggestion for in the ear headphones recommendation. I first set my mp3 player/phone to a relatively low level THEN go fire up the lawnmower and I don't have to adjust the volume at all. The noise cancellation is that good.

I have two pairs of in the ear headphones, Sennheiser and Etymotic. The comfort level is reasonable, but I wanted the ultimate in fit/care. As a result, I got a pair of custom molded earbuds using the Sennheiser authorized audiologist in my area.

Hopefully you can find some nice earbuds and actually turn down the sound so you don't hurt your ears.

We have to try and save our hearing one way or another. I already made the mistake in my teen years with car stereos. Too late for me, some sounds I hear fine while others I have troubles with.

Go luck trying to tell a young-en not to turn up their music...lol What your saying is a fact and EXCELLENT advice, but most people, especially young people, learn more from a GOOD SCARE... than from good advice. Youth is wasted on young people... lol

Those things are insanely nice. I looked in to getting a pair with my Creative Zen, but alas... I did not.

I do agree that earbuds are the way to go and the tech for them is way better than it was even 5 years ago. You get deep rich sounds out of them that you'd never expect and you hear things very clearly. The set that I got with my Creative Zen were actually really good and lasted about 3 years before I ended up picking up another pair that I don't use now. *shrug* A nice set of earbuds is worth it, though.

A media volume equalizer would be nice.. Pandora seems flat when running through my car stereo. Songs sound completely different on my Zune.

I got these earbuds and the noise cancellation is pretty amazing considering they aren't actual noise canceling. When I turn the music off I can't even hear my wife watching watching TV which means I don't have to crank up the volume to hear anymore. They were worth the price.

It is excellent advice. The "good scare" theory, however, doesn't work well since hearing loss is cumulative and tinnitus is irreversible.

I find I have the same problem as sfurules. I ride the bus to work as well, and I just got a set of Jlab (J-3's I think they're called) buds but would still like the volume to be able to go louder. The volume on MAX is ok, but I'd like that volume to be the volume at maybe 2/3 of the way up, as opposed to all the way up.
