Talked to a Verizon rep yesterday...

and he claimed that the Droid Incredible not only was 4G capable, and would utilize their 4G network when it released "this summer", but also that it had a hidden front-facing camera that would be enabled with the 4G capability. He said this was all on the "down-low" right now. Pretending I didn't know much about the phone I went along with it.

Correct me if I've been oblivious to these features of the Droid Incredible, but unless this is the best kept secret by HTC and Verizon in either of their histories, I find it kind of irritating that the reps say stuff like this. Like it's been said in many other threads, I'm sure that it's more about their managers mis-informing or non-informing, but that's just ridiculous!

does it also have a hidden hdmi output and a hidden 4.3 in screen?

was told the very same thing about 4G capability. not the summer release date, but that when it is available, the DI will be unlocked.

as for the front facing camera, you can see two very small holes in the black next to the VZ check mark. looks like a lense and a small flash to me. that was one of the first things i noticed when i took off the protective plastic layer.

I'm pondering a couple things here...

1st, the 2 spots next to the check... I know one is a proximity sensor, and the other a light sensor.

At least that is what they are used for at the moment. But consider the possibility that the light sensor could be a camera being used as a light sensor for now. Wouldn't THAT be sweet. :p

Also there is a hole on the bottom of the DI next to the charging port. I know the one on the right is the mic, but what it the one on the left? I mean its important enough that the silicone cases are cut out for it. My guess is an antenna port? I dunno

I think the second spot on the bottom is to connect a strap.

Pardon my french. But bullshit.

You spoke to a complete and total moron of a rep.

Hell, my local reps didn't know anything about the Incredible until I walked in with the leaked equipment guide and user guide printed out about 2 weeks before launch. :D

You're dead right, none of the things he said is possible.

Qualcom doesn't yet have a SOC Snapdragon with LTE support, so that knocks 4g out. Not to mention that even if LTE wasn't being used, they'd still have to have an FCC filing for it if they planned to turn it on in the future.

Hidden front facing camera? Really? where? In the Optical pad?

Because the other 3 holes on the front have been accounted for. Proximity sensor, light sensor and the notification LED.

This issue was addressed many times in the official thread while we were waiting for the phone to be announced/released. You might want to search for posts by NKT in that thread (NKT had access to the phone and all of its spcs while it was in testing).

For all the reasons elrabin states, this phone is NOT LTE capable, and does NOT have a front facing camera. If you want these features, you will need to buy a new phone when available.

I love how these reps know nothing about this phone during development (see worst kept secret in the history of upcoming mobile devices), yet they know all about hidden capebilities that will be activated in the future.

I really feel sorry for those who bought this phone because of these misrepresentations by reps who are talking out of their a$$!

Verizon Reps are lying scumbags. They told a friend of mine who was in the store that Apple isn't making iPhones anymore and that he might as well just get a Verizon phone.

They've lied to my face before. When I called their corporate support line the reps there were frankly shocked to hear some of the the stuff the store reps told me.
