HelixLauncher

I installed 2.0 and found it extremely laggy. I read here that this is due to the animated drawer and that 1.0 is the same thing w/o the drawer. I'm now running 1.0 and there is no lag. Looks like I'm keeping it.

Do you have a custom ROM and are you OC'd? I think HL2 works better on Custom ROMS but HL1 is definitely stable. I love both versions.

If you've got root access, simply put the HelixLauncher.apk (or however you name it) in your /android-sdk/tools folder, connect your phone to your PC and shift-click to open command window. Then execute:

adb remount
adb push HelixLauncher.apk /system/app

If you'd rather do it on the phone, use a terminal emulator. Navigate to the folder you've put the .apk, then type:

su
install HelixLauncher.apk /system/app

I ran both 1 and 2 for a few weeks. I didn't find either of them all that "unstable". I did notice however that 1 runs a lot smoother than 2. With 2, my app drawer would take some time to populate the app drawer several times a day. And, I'm not entirely sure about this, but it seemed to lag my phone in general; my browser was a little slower and always refreshed whenever I reopened the browser, and Maps was a bit slower... taking quite a bit of time to track me with the GPS. Maybe it was a fluke, maybe not, but I switched backed to HL1 yesterday and haven't experienced any of those hiccups.

I like HL2, but I DO NOT recommend it unless you are overclocked. Stock speed Droid cannot handle the 3D app drawer.

I'm running a stock Droid with HL2 and I never see the app drawer populate issue and my droid is nice and snappy and smooth as silk. I got about 50 apps installed and a profile setting app that runs as a service all the time. I've also not seen any FC's with it. I use the phone a bunch and I don't have any issues. Go figure!!

Thats impressive! I've ONLY been able to run it smoothly with bugless beast v 1.0.
