It's hard to say when this happened but I guess I noticed it after the OTA update (not saying that is the reason, just when I noticed it). The weather animations when you turn the screen back on seem different from before. The demo animations aren't the same either, lightning used to cause white flashes, cold used to gradually build up, rain effects lasted longer (I don't even remember fog).

Am I missing a setting change? Was it always this way and my memory just sucks (very possible)? Did it actually change?

What would be helpful is to know what you are seeing now? Nothing has changed, you are probably just seeing new ones you haven't seen yet?

Yeah, I used the demo function and it just seems like it's not how it used to be. I could have sworn the rain effects actually lasted a while. The thunderstorm preview is identical to the rain preview (no white flashes), the cold/snow doesn't show an animation, it just shows some frost on the sides (stillframe).

In fact, they're all still frames with the exception of rain and thunderstorms. I could have sworn the leaves blew across, the sun had a blinding/glaring effect, the clouds move, the thunder setting flashes the screen white, the frost builds up, etc... There just isn't any animation. Given no one else is experiencing any problems I'm assuming I'm overlooking something silly/stupid.

What I see in the demos is not what I see "live" in use. I noticed this the other day when the real animation when unlocking was thunderstorms. Later - after the storms and the live weather went to something else - I went to show my wife how cool the thunderstorm animation was (via the demo) and it was totally different. Much less animated - no lightning strikes, less clouds/rain, etc.
