Help Accidental Call Answers - Lock Issue?

I've had my Incredible for a week and love the phone. It is exactly what I hoped it would be and much more.

That being said, I have one issue that is driving me nuts. I hate belt clips/holsters and have always carried my phone in my pocket. Whenever I receive an incoming call on my incredible, the action of pulling it out of my pocket answers the call 99% of the time. I cannot screen any calls as a result...and on one occasion, while driving, I had a hard time getting the phone out of my pocket and, unbeknown to me, the caller could hear me grumbling about it, so the call was picked up while still in my pocket even.

I've tried orienting the phone differently in my pocket (upside down, right side up, screen out, screen in), but the result is always the same. I've searched and searched the forum and the internet, but cannot find a way of locking my phone so that a button needs to be pressed for call answers instead of the screen swipe. Am I the only one having this issue? Is there a workaround that I don't know about?

I haven't tried it on my incredible but when I used a lock pattern on the Eris it made me enter it before I could answer the call..Sometimes it was annoying because I would mess up the pattern and miss the calls..let me know if this is true for the incredible and if ithis helps.

You guys... How is your phone being answered in the pocket! This is technically, not even possible, since the screen is Capacitive Touch. I just called myself, the ONLY way to "slide-answer" the phone is to use a finger-skin contact. The cloth from your pocket cannot slide-to-unlock(answer). The only way I can see you doing, this is if you put your hand into the pocket, and your hand touches the screen. But if the phone is kept in the pocket, it should not answer.

Do this: Take the a shirt, cloth... a pant-pocket. Now completely cover your finger/hand. Then take the finger that is covered, and try to slide-to-unlock. It is not possible.

It only works by skin contact, so unless you got a hole in your pocket or your pockets are made of mesh... It is not possible for a pocketed-phone to be answered accidentally. Unless you stick you hand in the pocket and touch the screen accidentally.

Umm....to get the phone out of your pocket you have to use your hand? :p

But seriously I can see how this might be an issue for many....I've only had it happen a few times...with both the Eris and now my Inc....now that I've had practice, if I grab it carefully it's fine. But I do like call confirm it's actually nice just wished it worked on incoming calls.

Grab it buy the edge?!
Also, when you keep the phone in your pocket, have the "screen-side" facing you (your thigh). So when you hand goes into your pocket, the first thing you touch is the back cover.

Yea the edge that works! I agree with the placement of the phone as I do this. The point however, is some people would like an option like Call Confirm that places another step in there so that calls aren't accidentally answered whether in your pocket or not. I don't think this is a complaint so to speak just a tweak :)
