moto droid, only willing to pay 100 bucks

I know, it sounds like a low ball price but I have to try. Now that the incredible is out and anyone due for an upgrade can slide in for 200 bucks I just can't see the older phones going for 300-500 anymore.

I have to wait until August 11th to upgrade but by then it looks like 2 killer phones will be available. The worst case scenario is that the incredible will still be the best phone but my price on that is gonna be $135.

My dilemma is i am stuck with my POS omnia till then and i have been absolutely hating that phone for a long time now. Knowing I'm 90 days from upgrading I cannot justify spending more than I think I could reasonably recoup at time of upgrade. I figure the droid to be worth 100 bucks now and maybe a little less then. I know it is an awesome phone and i Know verizon still lists it at over $500. But seriously, do you think anyone is going to buy the droid over the incredible? And knowing the droid2 and shadow are around the corner?

I live in corona ca, and would really like to pick up in person to be 100% certain of condition and to activate at time of purchase. I'm one of those suspicious guys, sorry. I'm willing to drive an hour or so, but paypal and shipping is an option if there s no other way.

Flame me if you must, but I already know.

Thanks
Mike D

With the incredible dropping at $200, who would pay more for a droid? I am hugely addicted to physical keyboards and miss my i760 like a hot chick I dated in high school, but the touch keyboard on the incredible is.. well.... incredible! I spent about an hour a day since the incredible hit drooling over it, and also had checked out every android Verizon offers in the week prior. The droid is a close second to the incredible but like I said, who would pay the same price for a droid?

Actually, all scratched and dinged is not a problem for me, it's just a temp phone to last me till I can upgrade anyway. Once the shadow and droid2 to hit the showroom I will be getting to know those to and comparing with the incredible, and on August 11th, i will be waiting at the curb for the UPS truck to bring me my new phone.

If I am lucky enough to get my hands on a droid for a low price like this then it will become a backup phone. Like I said, I did not expect to be taken seriously but I had to try. It never hurts to ask right, the worst thing you have already said is no. But maybe someone will bight and I'll be able to ditch my POS omnia for the next 3 months while I am stuck in my contract.

Just wait ninety days and upgrade, I doubt you will get a Droid for $100. Patience is a virtue. Heck, go look for custom ROMs for your Omnia, you may be able to find something you like while waiting.

the omnia is a lost cause. the touch screen is beyond sub par as well as the rest of the phones functionality. if i have to rom it for it to work right then i don't really want it. i only got it because they no longer sold the i760 when i bricked mine and the droids were not coming out for a few more months. it's so sad, i have owned 3 or 4 samsung phones and always loved them. this one i absolutely hate. it even lacks sumsungs typical super long battery life.

You cannot compare on-contract price with off-contract price, they are not interchangeable. You are not going to find a fully functioning Droid for $100 this time next year, not less now.

This. The Droid is a high end Android phone. There are many people willing to pay $600 for an unlocked Milestone (GSM version, not as good as the Droid). I was debating the Milestone and Nexus before finding the Liquid for $360.

Look on ebay or craigslist for an out of contract Incredible, they are going for $5-600, and the Droids are like a previous poster said $250-350, I'm selling my in perfect condition Droid for $280. I just put it up last night and have 2 people willing to pay my listing price coming to see it tomorrow, so if I were you I would ask a moderator to delete this thread, because like CPR said, this is an insult.

why dont you just go to verizon and ask for an early upgrade when june hits?

if you are coming from a 2 year contract, you can resign your contract about 2-3 months in advanced and pay the upgrade price for a phone. Thats how i got my moto droid back in january when my contract ended in april

oh yeah and to give you a perspective on buying used phones,

when i bought my droid fro $200 off the contract price, i sold my blackberry storm 1 for $120 the next day

Either way dude, I posted the first response saying that the only one you could get would be beaten to hell and back then dragged out with barbed wire around it's throat for an extreme view of things on this. For $100, you're highly unlikely to get ANY android phone. As is, making an argument as to how much they pay for the phone with a new 2-year contract is an invalid argument. The matter is, sure they paid $200, but the phone's value is over $500. If it's a BRAND NEW and just released phone, it's going to be AT $500, if not a price bump of $50 for it being unlocked.

I think you're trolling, and if so, you were unfortunately successful. Good day sir.

There is no way someone will sell you their droid for 100. And they shouldn't. Mine is beat to shit, been to hell and back, and been in chicken and dumplings and back. BUT it is still 100% functional and i wouldn't take less than 250 for it.

Edit: I just saw that someone just sold one with a bad esn for 200 on these forums. Fully functional for 100 is not happening.

now that was just harsh. can you honestly blame me for trying. if i found someone willing to make me that deal then i got a good deal. i have lost nothing here. some of you guys are seriously a bit more than a little snobbish.

If you want that, you're going about it wrong. Keep a steady watch on craig's list and e-bay, and you might luck out with a really good deal. Just asking for someone selling it for that much isn't going to get you it.

In my mind, it's like wanting a good deal on a car. If you post an ad in the paper looking for something real nice for super cheap, you're not going to have any luck. But poking around all the small time sellers, you can come across a real steal.

^no your just wasting your time and ours. there are deals out there but this is just plain unrealistic and stupid. ill be the cruel b,c i frankly don't care. You sir are a dumb ass. Your comparing contract pricing with an off contract purchase. you realize broken droid/bad esn droids sell for over $100 for parts.

since you took the cap of the foul language and insults bottle, you are ignorant and arrogant. you feel so self importation that you have to repeat the same bullshit everyone else has said over and over. but the words mean so much more coming from you dumb ass. if you actually read the thread then you would see the point and that it is irrelevant to you, the fact that you read through to the end proved you are a moron, and if you posted without reading then you are still a dumb ass.

someone should lock this thread because it seems all the idiots want to keep repeating each other like they are the first ones to voice the same opinion.

i still have lost noting and i still cross my fingers that i might find the deal i am looking for.
