I'll be where I'm at!
I am looking to see if anyone else has experienced this!!

I know there was thread about this button getting stuck, but mine is getting softer and lower and less pronounced and I have not had the phone a week yet.

At this rate, this button will be completely flush to the top of the phone if not recessed pretty soon. There is barely any tactile feedback from it already!

Anyone else?

UPDATE 6/5/2010: I have now had my replacement 2 days longer than I had the original when this became a problem and there is a very noticeable difference and I could not be happier.

Search the thread for Locomans pics and this is what my button now looks like instead of completely flush with the case like my original!

I just took my silicone case off to see, and sure enough, it seems as though it's been pushed in since I first got the phone. It still functions perfectly, but indeed, I do worry about it ending up completely in the phone.

I also wonder if this case has anything to do with it since it smothers the button and applies constant pressure to it.

If it makes you feel any better, I have not even put mine in a case yet...

mine seems very cheap as well. its seems to be getting smaller. i have only had it since the 6th. im worried about that more than anything else on my phone right now.. id like to see a change to the OS to allow my trackpad/joystick thing to wake up the phone instead of the powerbutton. (or maybe in addition to it.)

Yes, I'm a bit surprised this was not built into the OS. It would eliminate this issue completely.

Yeah, I don't feel like starting over and risking other, more severe problems, when other than this, my phone's been nearly flawless (except for a random reboot today for the first time).

Let us know what happens, and if you notice any difference with the new one if you do receive it.

I still have like 20 days until my 30 days are up to receive a new replacement instead of a refurb.

Let me know how that goes. If they will give you a new one for such an issue. I'm curious to find out. I bought mine at Best Buy, so I'd probably have to go to them for an exchange, and if the next one is going to be the same, its probably not worth it.

Such an issue? Its not so trivial if the only method of waking up the phone breaks. I agree it may be common to the model which makes this a little more frustrating. I would think that more strength would have been designed into such a button!! I mean 2 years is a long time to rely on one button for so much.

totally agree. this could turn into a major problem if the button is not re-enforced well enough.

Well, if it breaks yeah. However although my button seems to be getting worse, it still functions, and I've had them deny me an exchange before because they don't admit it is an issue. How did the phone call go? Are you getting a new one?

Actually the call went very well! They told me to bring it into a corporate store so they can verify that there is no physical damage (from abuse or a fall) and it will be replaced!

They agreed that I should not see this after 4 days and assured me that they would make it right!

Any chance you can take a picture of just how pushed down yours is? Perhaps with the back cover on and off?

I agree it should not be like that, it's just a question of whether it's more a design defect and will continue on all future replacements or not.
